It is made up of boys who have been selected by the faculty, screened by the members of the club and judged mainly on their scholastic ability and service to the school. The purpose of the club is to build character and leader- ship and to assist the school in social and comnunitv affairs. 'lhe meetings are conducted under the supervision of Mr. Karcher, the school sponsor, and George Pude, President. There is usually an important businessman at each meeting to speak on success in various fields. This helps give to each boy a wider outlook on business had helps him to select his own career. ROST The Student Council is the gover- ning board of the school. ' It is composed of a president who U n is elected by the Student Body from four nominees chosen by Student Cbun- cil from next year's Senior Class, two girls and two boys, and an alternate for each, to represent their class. These members carry back to their classes a report of the weekly Coun- cil meeting. 'Ihe Student Cbuncil takes up the problems and suggestions of the student body. 'Ihey sponsored a Glrist- mas Dance, held December 19, 1953, sponsored selling tournanent cards at the Hancock Tournament, and presided at school assemblies. Student Council also sent representatives to the Mis- souri Association of Student Onuncils in Maryville, Missouri. This year the Student Council has a very able group of officers: Pres- ident - Richard Jourden, Vice-Presi- dent - Jean Landmann, Secretary - Hgtty Verdin, Treasurer - Dale Foster. They have become a very active organization.
