She received an A. ll. degree from Baker University and later went to New York where she attended Columbia University, receiving an M. A. degree. She took an extension course in Visual Education from Missouri University. Mrs. Gettler's hobbies are gardening and sewing. When asked what her advice to students is, she said, You should take advantage of ev- ery opportunity to learn because you never know when you will need this knowledge to make your life adjustments. ROST The Student Council is the gover- ning board of the school. ' It is composed of a president who U n is elected by the Student Body from four nominees chosen by Student Cbun- cil from next year's Senior Class, two girls and two boys, and an alternate for each, to represent their class. These members carry back to their classes a report of the weekly Coun- cil meeting. 'Ihe Student Cbuncil takes up the problems and suggestions of the student body. 'Ihey sponsored a Glrist- mas Dance, held December 19, 1953, sponsored selling tournanent cards at the Hancock Tournament, and presided at school assemblies. Student Council also sent representatives to the Mis- souri Association of Student Onuncils in Maryville, Missouri. This year the Student Council has a very able group of officers: Pres- ident - Richard Jourden, Vice-Presi- dent - Jean Landmann, Secretary - Hgtty Verdin, Treasurer - Dale Foster.
