1 R: N., was honored the other night because of the out- standing work she has done in carrying on the work started in this country twenty years ago by Madame Kennedy for the cure of-infantile paralysis. The principle speakers of the evening were Dr. Lucille Banner and Dr. Bernice Horst who have been instrumental in raising funds to finance thc research. A feature of the program on the lighter side was the demonstration put on by the Tw,+lrlers, a group from Arlene Rudolphds Studio for Qflllll Major rites . g SENSATIONAL CRASH Last night while going through the Rockies, an air- plane carryinga group of en- tertainers to New York to put on a show at the Veterans' Hospital was caught in a storm and forced to make a crash landing. No one was Killed and only minor injuries are evident as far as the doctors can tell as yet. Among those in the crash were Russel Calvin and Wil- bur Silvey, dramatic actorsg Marioniiasslesa, commedienneg Delores Ploesser, well-Known opera singerg Jean Grate and Billie Jean..Elack, dramatic actresses teamed with Silvey and Calving ' Audrey Schober, Carol Lofton,and Tlrginia Ret!- tig,arrangers of popular musing Wanda Murray, roller skating star and her manager, Retha Patrickg Charles Chambersg Charles Kain, Lawrence K?lly,a William Kirtman, Walter ,gong- olius , and Norman Schmid ,' the famous Se xtetg and Miss Rose, Bjjary Pohlman, Miss America of l95l+. Russel Kiefer and Charles Borger, officers of the Navy Air Corps, were pilot and co- pilot of the plane. Kiefer says the necessity for the crash landing has not been investigated but he thinks the lightning of the storm af- fected the motor in some way.
