Kosfmm Nom ADVISOR MR GRAMS We, the Seniors of 1956, would like to dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Arnason. Not only his patience in teaching us but his pleas- ing personality and cheerful disposition have done much to make our school days at H.H.S. days we shall never forget. We enjoyed his classes very much especially the arguments which would sometimes arise on politics. we would like to express our thanks for his kindness. At least it seemed long then, but we are sure everyone in the class of So will now agree that the years have gone by very fast. Of course not everyone who started out in this first class is still with us. The uorig- inalsn are: Ronald Swanson, Karen Nelson, Kenneth Walton, Jean Swenson, Joanne DeGier, Sharon Grossman, and Kath1yn dose. Every Freshman looks forward to the inevitable initiation with much excitment and our class was without exception. We do not think anyone will forget what each one of us went throuvh to become initiated. Our Sophomore year won us a prize for our float that we had entered in the Homecoming Parade. We believe the Junior year was the busiest. At Homecoming time our class was honored by the crowning of our candidate for Homecoming Queen, Antoinette Grammentz. Our rings were chosen in our Junior year also. This was a very big event to us. Our class play, HCheaper By The Dozenu which was out on in December was a new exper- ience and also a lot of fun. Soon after Christmas of this same eventful year we all be- gan thinking about the Junior-Senior Banquet. Later we began the actual planning and on May 21 the banouet took place with the theme being UDown Mexico Wayn. Now we are the NMighty Seniorsn. We sometimes wonder how we ever made it. In November we took a special trip to Moorhead, and we do mean special, for we had our class pictures taken. Then came our Skip Day, Class Play, and finally Graduation on June lst. Everyone who has graduated before us tells us high school years are the best years of our lives and they also say they wish they had studied harder when they were in school. Right now this seems a bit silly but we have a feeling we too shall think back to those Hbestn years and wish we had studied harder and perhaps wish we were back. 3 li ll . if wg ,, Speech 3' ls, 1 V' W 3 M , .,., t,.. t Jlawed Home EC girls Combine her hair , ' T i, I , ' slv 'Yr v i i 'E' , W gy, A if illgigl . Good Luck. rx. 0 1 1, J Q V, 4 4 , L N Nl A ' A Y 35 SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY The year is 1976 and the place is New York City. A strange happening has come over this great city. Twenty years ago, an eruption occu.rred in the ea.rth and the city was completely covered by water. The people today are somewhat fishy-looking. You will see for yourself as we take a tour of the Marine City. Look, here comes a nautilus taxicab driven by IGEINNETH WALTON. While driving dovm to the fish-packing plant to see butcher RON STENSBY, we noticed by the billboards on the seaweed that WESLEY HOFFMAN and DONNABELLE FOX are performing in the Opera Mud and Seaweed' in the Metropolitan Opera House. While waiting at a stoplight, we notice JERRY EMMERT in a policeman's uniform. JERRY is Chief of Police. We arrive at the packing plant and find RON STENSBY who has made himself a fine reputation as a fishcutter. He specializes in a brand of fish where all the insides are eaten. Passing near the outslclrts, we see a blond-haired fellow cultivating spongesg drawing closer, we see it is DARRELL DEJAGER. DARRELL owns the biggest farm in New York City. Out in this pa.rt of town, is located the fishbowl, where all the football games are played during lowtide. EARL VALNES plays left halfback. Last week, he scored three touchdowns and intercepted five passes. Also, located here, is the Barracuda Hall, the famous college for elementary teachers. The Dean, SHARON GROSSMAN, started out as a grade teacher and advanced rapidly. As we draw nearer, to the loop, we pass the hospital where LORRAINE BURNS is the head mxrse now. She can say that no one ever died in her hospital. CShe had them carried outside.7 Speaking of science, we see by the sea log that KEN REESE is now developing new types of food from sea plants. Mentiouing food, we stopped at PETE SWANSON'S Oyster Bed - - finest restaurant in town. Major Chef at the Oyster Bed is JEAN She is also a Home Economics instructor at the Agricultural College. Driving by one of the larger theaters, 'The Pa1ace , we see that KAREN NELSON is currently starring in a new dramatic role. A little farther on, we see a large crowd gathered to hear ROSE ANN NOHL giving another speech in her campaign for a chair on the City Council. ROSE started speech in High School and has influenced crowds ever since. On the way uptown, we pass the city Zoo. JANICE NORRIS is the ovmer and trainer also. She tames anything that swims. Taking a portside on Dolphin Street, we view the EVINK ART CENTRE JOYCE is so popular, even the fish come to have her paint their spots on. A block farther on, we see a great church. From within comes strains of beautiful organ music. JEAN SWENSON is the organist. She gave up a brilliant career just to play in this church. We go deeper into the loop. Near the heart of downtown is located the New York Choral Society Building. JOANNE DEIIER has been the president and leader of this group for many years. Right across from the Choral Building is the New York Fish Tales Gazette, owned and operated by GWEN CASS. GWEN recently ran a story on the elimination of blood suckers. Three blocks from the City Hall stands the Pickeral Building 3 covering a whole block, it was built for office use. On the third floor is located the business managers office for Pike and Perch cosmetics. KATHRYN ROSE is the Business Manager and also one-half owner. Moving to the residential district, we pass a store owned and operated by CAROL HALDORSON. CAROL started working in a store when she was freed from high school. As we go farther out of town, we notice another small school or institute. It is a school devoted to the purpose of teaching people how to be secretaries. TONI GRAMMENTZ is the Dean and Chief Teacher. As we near the ocean, a band comes marching down the street. It is a Navy Band led by LEROY RAS. LEROY is a Navy Band Director now besides being an U. S. Admiral. Well, that concludes the tour of the largest city in the world today. We just thought we would point out some of the more important people in this great Underwater City of Today. 36 E? lar 77 -ss. lin - ' .lcidwaaq I 214 76441 Curtis Burns, Roberta Wiese, Susan Person Standing: Sharyn Nylander, Librarian Allhi X M Row 12 Patty Biesterfield, Shirley Joos, Sandra Sturm, Dorothy Nissen, Dale Bakalyar, Kathy Krenz, David Reese Row 2: Mrs. Grams, Scott Person, Mark Lee, Lloyd Bendt, David Haugen, Tommy Wiese, Donald Spencer, Charles Schaefer, Jean Behsman Row 3: Myrna Nylander, Sandra Kay Boon, David Sholy, Florence Lauringer, George Ras, Keith Schmidgall, Cedric Messner, Marcia Oksendahl 37 S WW 144-1 Row lr Gary Waldron, Brian Wente, Judy Flannigan, Mary Knorr, Christine Stettner, Barbara Kaehler, Bonnie Bailey, David St. Lawrence, Marilyn Westphal, Florence Bakalyar, Allen Ras Row 2: Arthur Bakker, Connie Lee, Jerry Joos, Danny Eby, Randy Erickson, Roberta Meyers, Steven Schaefer, Kathy Alcox, Sandra Wiese, Mavis Anderson Row 3: Jane VerSteeg, Allen Greiner, Barbara Eide, Bob Biesterfield, Eddy Stettner, Dennis Schaefer, Barbara Mikkelson, Mark Behsman, Panurgy Jacoby, Mrs. Pasch dm 4-.
