Through his efforts we have been advised, taught, and counseled. For these reasons, and for many more, the Class of 1965 dedicates the Memento to Mr. Weldon B, Long, ,, W, , ... WVJAVAVA' ' Mk 'lf7l'71P1L'5'f??7f, ln medieval time, activity was centered around the castle and court life. It was here the jousts, tournaments, feasts, andiestivities took place. Court life had a definite effect on the lives of the people. Apparently, it was a good effect considering the changes they were able to make with the coming of the Renaissance. The time spent in the medieval period was used for the growth of man. lt gave man sufficient time to prepare for another mode of life. Throughout this book there are references made to the early English period. It seems justified to do this as it is school life which prepares students for the change from adolescence to adulthood. The story is about a vain emperor, Qknown in our play as King Awfulp who thought only of himself and who used the peoples' money to his own advantage and to that of his people. Gne day, however, two tailors, playing on his vanity, led him to believe they could make clothes visible only to the wise and competent, Qactually they made no clothes at ally. The king, falling for the trick, decided to have a parade to show off his new clothes. It took a child to speak up and say the king was parading, minus his clothes, thus degrading him in the eyes of his people. Now, just four short years later, they are about to set out on their own with a mixture of both happiness and remorse. As awestruck freshmen they floundered through their first year. The main event of the Sophomore year was the Sadie Hawkins Dance. The third year was fully launched into a social whirl which sometimes proved very hectic. The main goal was the Junior-Senior Prom, but what fun it was reaching this goal. Of all the activities, the WIL basketball game proved the greatest success. The Senior year was made official by the Ring Assembly. This was their year for a final fling at Hancock's activities. Four well-spent years finally came to an end with the Prom and graduation. No matter what paths the Seniors of 1965 follow, the memories of four FULL years will always be with them. These people are: Mr. Curtis Lee Kenner, advisor Mr. Charles Monti Jr., advisor from Walsworth Walsworth Publishing Company Rembrandt Studio I would also like to extend my appreciation to the members of the staff. They have worked many long, hard hours during their spare time and after school to make this, the Memento, one of the best there has ever been. But I am sure that they will agree with me when I say that it was well worth all the effort. For we have again given Hancock its pictured history book for the 1964-65 school year, and we hope you enjoy it for many years to come.
