We have inserted new ideas, and in some way we hope we have made it the best annual yet. We won't drag on about how much hard work went into the making of this yearbook because it was an honor and a pleasure to contribute what little we could. So, on behalf of the annual staff, we present the '67 HORNET to you. Editor- in- Chief Q .. ' 1 d 7 We, the Senior Class, proudly dedicate the'6'7 HORNET to Rev. 85 Mrs. Charles R, Riggs, who have shown great devotion and leadership to our school and its interests. For the triumphs F. and achievements found therein give the world an all too brief glimpse of the impact it will feel when the individuals found here step forth If .f to begin their march into life and create the footprints onthe sands of L lime' ' R2 5 Our Yearbook is not only the most prized production that a school has to offer, 5- but its pages constitute a mirror that reflects your action, impressions, skills, , B ingenuity, and moral fiber. It serves as the media through which many people get their only perspective of what our school is really like. It is urgent that each student always contributes his best when taking part in a scene for the Yearbook or any school production The Hornet is made possible through the contributions and participation of many in our area Without this valuable help there would be no Yearbook and without a Yearbook we would feel that a vital link was missing from our school It is my hope both now and in the future that every student will help make the Homet a publication that each of us can point to with pride and satisfaction Agenda 5. RICHARDS KEITH PULLIAM LINDA MONTGOMERY ROBERT MONTGOMERY DAVID PAYNE AUTOGRAPHS July 13, 1977 Re 'sume': While conducting scientific experiments in my laboratory, I have been able to transfer persons back into time. For my first specimens, I have chosen my old classmates of the 1967 graduating class of Hancock County High School. I am conducting these experiments to ascertain how the human body will react under adverse con- ditions in the past. Through a scientific process, I have been able to transform my old classmates into the famous figures of yesteryear. They have now been in the time-tunnel for two hours and I will now obtain visual contact with them to evaluate their progress. As I look in on our first specimen, I find Wayne Stephens who has taken the place of Christopher Columbus just after he obtained permission to sail to the tip of South Africa from Queen Karen Isabella McCaslin. Fortunately for us, he stumbled upon North America where he found Indian Princess Marilyn Voyles selling tourist maps to David Payne, chief of the Aztec Indian tribe of Mexico. Next, I see Gene Mark Anthony Rice visiting his lover, Jamie Cleopatra Chambers. Mean- while, Bobby Brutus Emmick is conspiring with his cronies to kill Russell Caesar Puckett. And now I see Diane Juliet Freyvogel saying Where forth art Thou, Romeo Charlie. Suddenly I hear a sweet seranade from the balcony. We all know who that must be--it's Romeo Charlie Davies. Next I find myself in Jolly Ole England. Appearing through the dense underbrush, I see Larry Robin Hood McCaslin and his merry men, Larry Frier Tuck Morris chased by Sherriff Mike Banks of Knoting- ham . I arrived just in time to see Mike Menlaus Henning jumping out of the Trojan horse to help re- capture his loving wife Janice Helen of Troy Toler from her Captor Richard Paris Bradshaw. I now see Vicki Joan of Arc Carter leading her heroic army into their last battle. I find Terry William Tell Simpson and his son, Roy Haycraft, at the local infirmary. It seems that William was a little hasty with his shot. Next, I see Margie Mona Lisa Jackson posing for the great Sherman Leonardo de Vinci Brandle's great painting. I now see the executioner practicing his swing on chickens while Linda Marie Antoinette Barker weeps in her prison cell. Of course, all of you remember the famous battles between Donna Queen of Scots Brown and Queen Charlene Elizabeth Hawley I. Queen Elizabeth seems to be getting the upper hand at the present time. As I turn my dials, I see a ship on the horizon. The purpose of this ship was to supply the wifeless men of Jamestown with wives. The first five I notice coming down the gangplank are Carolyn Quisen- berry, Gail Richards, Evelyn Crutchfield, Nora Adkins, and Sharon Alexander. Good luck, girls. One of the girls disembarking from the ship told of a horrible experience during which they encount- ered Norman Black Beard Arnold and his band of cut-throats: Charles Price, Bobby Newton, and Low- ell Newman. - Next as I emerge on the Revolutionary War, we see Ray John Paul Jones issuing his famous phrase, I have just begun to fight, from the deck of his sinking ship. I see Martha Washington Rice trying to persuade Connie Betsy Ross Johnson into putting fifty stars on the flag instead of thirteen. This just goes to show that behind every successful man, there is a woman. Next, I see two famous sisters in profession, Judy F1orence Nightingale Colbert and Patsy Clara Barton Basinger, performing their nursing duties faithfully in the heat of battle. As I view the Alamo, I see Keith Santa Anna Pulliam leading a charge of five thousand Mexicans on the fort. Leading the defenders are: Marvin Davy Crockett Crask and Neal Jim Bowie Corley. It seems that they are the only ones left. Don 't give up the ship, boys! Elaine Annie Oakley Richardson, with her brother Jimmy Tad Owens, seem to be having target practice using Dean Jesse James Estes as their amiable target. By oscillating the time dial still further, I have now focused on Robert James Madison Montgom- ery and his wife, Cheryl Dolly Madison Ashworth planning if surprise dinner party for some British guests. The high- light of the evening will be an enormous bonfire of the Capitol. It tumed out to be a Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight. The next specimens are Judy Kreisle and Jane Keown who were placed in the Gold Rush. They seemed to be having a little trouble with the men folk. While being chased by a pack of wolves they stumbled over the biggest gold field in California. Next, I tune in on the Civil War and find Confederate General Kenny Robert E. Lee Roberts sur- rendering his sword to the Union General, Mike Ulysses Grant Young as a lovely southern belle, Har- riette Barrs, draws up the terms of surrender. Coming into view, we see General Tommy George Custer Keown and his Captain, Joe Eubanks, planning a victory celebration after his raid on Chief Rodney Sitting Bull Chaffin. Little does he know Chief Chaffin is planning a victory party of his own. But due to unforeseen circumstances, 50 to 1 odds, Custer was unable to attend. I next see two women who became famous authors, Saundra Harriet Beecher Stowe Snyder, and Judy Louisa May Alcott Potts. Mrs. Snyder did not know that there would be so much controversy over her book, Unc1e Tom 's Cabin. Miss Potts gained great fame by writing several chi1dren's books. Next, I find Sandy Alexander Graham Be1l Grant, discoverer of the telephone, as she talks to her assistant, Krista Mayfield. I would stop to interview them, but you know women. Their conversation could go on for hours. Nancy Madam Curie Chaffin and her husband, Danny Pierre Tongate, are my next stop. I see them experimenting with the new element, radium. Their discovery of this element brought about a whole new way of war. Now I see the two famous Wright sisters, Shirley Cart wright and Sarah Snyder Wright. Their discovery of the airplane not only revolutionized the transportation industries, but now we don't have to wait six months to get our morning paper. As I look on the Captain and first-mate of the Titanic, Eric Webster and Carroll Quisenberry, I see Carroll giving Eric the latest iceberg report. It seems that all the icebergs have gone south for the win- ter. Are they in for a big surprise. In front of the White House I see a band of women led by Nellie Goad, Brenda Morris, and Jeane Richards campaigning for Woman suffrage. I am now tuning in to perhaps the greatest airplane race of all times. It is between Mike Charles Lindberg Taylor and Judy Amelia Earhart Robbins. Of course, all of us know who will win. Now I see two of the greatest silent movie actresses, Ann May West Tomes and Linda Greta Garbo Montgomery. They are having lunch together, hashing over old times. No wonder they were silent movie stars, you should hear their voices. In the ring l next find David Cassius Clay Johnson and Tommy :'Sonny Liston Doyle. It is the night of the championship bout. Everyone knows that'Liston will never be beaten. I now see two men in space. They are Gary Alan Sheppard Simpson and Fred John Glenn Chancellor. With astronauts like this, how can our space program go wrong? Last but not least, I arrive in the time of Carman, Grandma Moses Delarnette. She seems to be celebrating her 101st birthday. Boy, was that a cake and a half! In my final report, I shall unfortunately have to say that my old classmates did an unsatisfactory job of being heroes, but after all, they're only human, I think.
