L.K. 35 Students Do Not Survive With Books Alone 18 Schools live by this pattern After all, balance makes perfect With all the hard work in academics, there's al- ways a time to party. I guess that's what junior proms are for. I can just look back. The prepara- tions .. the thrill..., and that night. Oh yes, the very memorable night. Weeks before, everybody was fuss- ing about prom dresses and tux- edos. That was no easy task. And transportation too. I remember the good deeds that came before daddy handed over the keys. Then there were make-up arrangements for the gals and dinner plans for the guys, not to mention the savings for that too. With all the personal preparations, additional mission was on the prom committee's shoulders the theme and it's construction. The whole plan first hit us with uncertainty. It was very ambitious. But then, everyone eagerly contributed and the work was very harmonious The whole of Friday! Boy, the result was astounding! Really, effort pays Then, the most awaited moment came--------the night itself At around 8:00 in the evening of May 23, 1987, the prom-goers were beginning to arrive Quite a sight, that was The ladies in their prettiest, and the gentlemen in their handsomest. As they entered the gym. the whole scene was perfected. Pink and silver all over - - - roses, balloons, streamers, and plastic sheathing. All that and tiny white lights gave the whole place a classy and saavy effect To top it all, a white gazebo was constructed for the Prom King and Queen and their court. Indeed, a job well done Shawn Karcher and Tom Mattice! To add zest and life to the evening, the Strike Zone band took the stage The evening went on with dancing and chatter Pairs were insep- arable Indeed, the Prom lived up to it's theme Stand By Me Well, as I've said. I can just look back . . Then perhaps. I can say, I remember that great night when.........“ LU Z o h- 5 D STAND BY ME Junior Prom Hancock Central School Are We Having Fun Yet? Reyes Finest Season Yet According to Coach Judy Franskevicz, this was Hancock's finest season yet. After several losing seasons, Hancock's Field Hockey Team turned the tide. With a 7-7-1 season; 3rd place in the league; and the first time to play in sectionals, this marked a fine year for the HCS team. Ann Trask distinguished herself by earning a place on the Empire State Team. She assisted in helping New York's Team to win the National Tour- nament in Irving, California. Rm Coming to the United States is one of the big- gest decisions I've made in my life. I had to be very positive if this is what I really wanted. And I guess it is. Football cheerleading was fun! It was a new experi- ence for me. By the way, thanks for the jacket girls! Of course I had to ex- perience the hard times of adjusting and braving homesickness. There is pride in saying, I've made it! . But there's a secret to that too. It's the coopera- tion of people like you. You just don't know how a helping hand, lis- tening ear, and a smile helps. Especially to a newcomer like I once was. My very first Thanksgiving weekend. Amidst all the merry-making. I did my work too. Do you recognize the book, Mr. Connors?
