SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER DECEMBER 6, 1972-JUNE 30, 1980 BOARD OF EDUCATION Row 1: Robert Wrighter, Sr., Gerald DaBrescia, lohn Mason, Leonard Sienko, )r., Betsy Abernethy. Row 2: Mr. Karas, Mr. Podbelski, Mr. Schrader. DEAR SENIORS OF 1982, CONGRATULATIONS to you as you reach your goal in this stage of your life - graduation from high school! Knowledge for its own sake is a central value for everyone. Recognition and absorption of this value will allow us not only to survive, but to flourish intellectually and personally. It is important to make a living, but it is more im- portant to make a life. Keep this in mind as you continue to strive to reach your future goals in life. Best wishes for every success as you continue to grow — good health, wealth, and much happiness in the fu- ture! Sincerely, John W. Podbelski SUPERINTENDENT This is my first year at your fine school and I have not yet had the good fortune to meet and know, as I would like to, all of the senior class of 1982. However, I would like for you to take with you as you leave Hancock Central, the following thought, penned by Ben Franklin, which has been of value to me: If no pleasure tempt thee, no profit allure thee, no ambition corrupt thee, no example sway thee, no persuasion move thee, to do anything which thou knowest to be evil; so shalt thou al- ways live jollify; for a good conscience is a contin- ual Christmas . . . My best wishes to the class of 1982. Carl F. Schrader TO THE CLASS OF '82: As this year draws to a close, each of you will embark on a new but exciting journey to develop your talents. I encourage you to achieve your highest goals and follow your dream. No one can predict your future, except you, because you are truly unique. There is not and never will be an- other person like you. Each individual needs to develop a good self- concept in order to be successful. This is not easi- ly attained because our self-concept changes each day as we learn more about ourselves throughout life. As each of you strives to realize your maximum potential, you will do more than develop yourself, you will also develop an increased capacity for the quality of life you live. I wish each of you success in achieving your short and long term goals. Always believe in your- self and be proud of what you are....and what you can be. Benjamin F. This is the com- pletion of a significant step in your future. Some of you will be attending various colleges or vocational schools, some entering the mili- tary service, some intend to go to work, and some plan marriage. We are all fortunate to live in a country where you have the freedom to make these different choices. In whatever direction you choose, I hope you all attain your future goals and aspirations. George R. Nearing GUIDANCE COUNSELOR Congratulations to all the young men and women graduating in the Class of 1982. I hope most of you will seek some further, formal edu- cation.
