PRIINCIIPALXS MESSAGE To the Class of 1958: The moment a satellite was shot into space and began circling the earth we were thrust into the Space Age. 'I'he impact of this event will greatly affect your future. You will be stepping into this Space Age after Commencement to take your place as a contributing member of society to help this nation determine the course it will fol- low in the future. You will be called upon to face problems never before presented in all the history of mankind. The defense of our democratic society lies ln a citizenry whose members have at- tained an emotional and intellectual balance, high standards of moral and spiritual val- ues and the ability to make intelligent decisions as individuals and as a group. The ul- timate responsibllity for the welfare of this way of life will rest with you. Therefore. you will be called upon to recognize your full responsibility for greater effort, to work to the full measure of your capacity and develop your abilities and talents to the highest possible level. By doing this, you not only serve yourself, but also your country. l am confident that you can and will be equal to this challenge. My congratulations and best wishes go with you -- the Class of 1958. Edward S. Onody
