MACK We, the class of 1957, dedicate our year- book, The Chehoeton, to our advisor Mrs. Mack. It is difficult for us to express the gratitude and deep affection we hold for her. She who guided us ln time of indecislon, helped us in time of trouble, and advised us intlme of need for advice. Through herunselflsh- ness and generosity many things, whichwe alone could have never accomplished have been accomplished. Thanks is asmall word for such an esteemed person, but we thank you, Mrs. Mack, for all you have done for us. 5 ef u 3 x Cr j ! BOARD OF EDUCATIO First row, left to right: Robin- son, G. J. To the Class of 1957: As you confidently step forth to meet the future and pause upon the threshold of tomorrow, I hope you will carry with you these things: Strength enough to know when you are weak. Courage enough to face yourself when you are afraid. Humility enough to always remember the simplicity of true greatness. Open -minded enough for true wisdom Meekness enough for true strength Humble enough in victory, yet proud and unbending in honest defeat. Finally, that to know yourself you have discovered the foundation stone of knowledge. Congratulations to you, the Class of 1957. May your future be bright and shining and your accomplishments be a credit to your Alma Mater. Edward S. Onody Dear Seniors of 1957: It was Plato who said, 'The direction in which education starts a man will de- termine his future life. You have been with us for twelve years of this education, and now it is time for you to assume your responsibility. Set your goals high! Asa class and as individuals, you have left your mark at the Hancock Central School--and we know we can always feel proud of you, the Class of 1957. SCIENCE DEPARTMENT This year, H.C. S. was very fortunate in having, as guest teacher, Mr. Paul Shover a traveling Nuclear Science Teacher. Mr. Shover is a public school teacher from Allen- town, Pa. , who was trained at Oak Ridge, Tennessee by the National Science Foundation The Foundation trained several teachers for the express purpose of visiting schools such as Hancock, in an attempt to more fully educate the high school level in the new fabu- lous field of Nuclear Energy. Hancock was one of the lucky 200 out of 1200 applied schools that benefited from this program. Special credit should be given to Mr. Lester for submitting Hancock as an appli- cant, and making Mr. Shovers week here interesting, educational and enjoyable. MR.
