WARM FAIR 31nd YE.ABlLU.L. t tt 2 Mayes HANCUCETNL TO THE MEMBERS OF THE SENIOR CLASS OF 1956 As you face the world of tomorrow you will look back on the experiences you have gained at H.C.S. You will be called upon to evaluate your personality, your ability, your talents, your ambitions and your ideals. The answer you get will determine your degree of success. You will get out of the future, just as in the past, only what you put into it. This world of tomorrow will take a wide awake, intelligent citizenry, with each person carrying his own responsibility and not shirkinghis duty. He must be willing to set his sights high and then put forth every effort to attain his goals. Many decisions will have to be made, and long, careful thinking must pre- cede each decision. The world of today and tomor- row is a fast-moving one. There are five major steps required of our school in accomplishing this sig- nal duty. First, and most obvious, is the develop- ment of a high degree of intellectual and academic ability to enable the child to think for himself and make wise decisions based on careful analysis. Sec- ond, there should be social training fthrough sports, clubs, erc.J to show him how to get along and play an active part in commu- nity social life. Third, he must be inculcated with a love of culture and beauty. Fourth, he must receive vocational training in or- der to make him a produc- tive member of society, and perhaps most import- ant of all, he must be im- bued with high ethical and moral values essential to permanent civilization. On the basis of this out- line alone, we are not able to judge the standards of education in the entire na- tion. We can, however, f W DeTeqnr t sl mTi on Cougnsq Co oPena.'1'roN ,Rehq 'ON 'me Mmklllqs of' Good Cflizeushop and 'nn hqlfl' Thdl' leads To TNC FILIFIUMC-UT of Good Cnhze state unhesitatingly, that the students of Hancock Central School are receiv- ing as line an education as could be desired. . . .
