For all but a few years of advanced education and shore duty, Captain Brown has accumulated wide experience at sea. I-le saw duty aboard the WEST VIRGINIA, the GOFF, the SEMNIES, and then in T939 became Executive of the GAMBLE. In l942, he became Executive Officer of the FRAZIER and later the Commanding Officer of that ship. After serving on the Staff of Commander Destroyers Pacific in l944, he went to Washington where he was appointed Assistant Director of Special Services Division of the Bureau of Personnel. In l947, he was awarded an lvl.A. degree at the completion of study at Ohio University. Then one year later, he was appointed to the Staff of Commander Service Force PaciHc. ln l95O, Captain Brown became Commanding Officer of the LANAWEE and soon after, Commander Destroyer Squadron SEVEN. The Captain and his wife, Mrs. Elynor Brown, have two sons, Elliott Jr., and Lawrence who are attending Arizona State and Yale respectively.
