U mf ' o o o 'lim CLASS PROPHECY Editor's note: The following represents the result of research conducted by Prof. Edwin Pezda, aided and abbeted by friend wife, Grace Rundy Pezda, and published in the weekly edition of the Raw Deal, Hamtramck's only and least read newspaper. Time, the year of 1945. Characters, certain graduates of the June '35 class. Moral, There's a sucker born every minute. Quote-When we began this little inquiry into the lives of our former class- mates, my wife and I had no idea what a Wealth of material would be at our disposal. Then too, we never for a minute suspected that our work would have anything but scientific value. Therefore, you can imagine our surprise when subsequent results had us rolling in the aisles and gasping for breath. For instance, everybody in the June '35 class knew that John Werenski, besides wanting to become an actor, had a crush on Mary Lou Grzybowski. Also, it was common news that Mary Lou, besides wanting to be a singer, had a crush on John. Well! who would believe it?! John is now an understudy's under- study in a third rate Hoboken stock company, while Mary Lou, his guiding light, supports the Werenski family by singing in a Passiac, N.J. beer garden. My, my! We soon found that not a few of our ex-classmates had entered into the bonds of matrimony with their fellow graduates. There is the case of Frank Salley, erstwhile clarinet player, and Vivian Adams, she of the slim figure and large brown eyes. Mitchell Chojnowski, who, if we remember correctly, was our 12A president, also succumbed to the attractions of family life. The lucky woman? None other than Stella Zadroga, of the crack '35 debating team. Stella, to be sure, can talk hubby Mitchell into anything. Not to be omitted is the matrimonial venture of Casey Klewicki, who starred at football and ping pong at Michigan State, and Celia Osinski, once of the Cosmos staff. Then too, Leroy White and Marion Shepard, also prominent reporters, have decided to see what fun there is in marriage, and are now engaged in the occupation of developing little journalists. Do you recall the young colored lad, one Frank Mercer by name, who used to cavort about the school with a bible in his mit? Well, this same Frank, en- couraged by his wife, Ruth Kidd, has realized his greatest ambition. He can now be heard preaching to Saturday night audiences in the tent on the open lot f:1ciUf'? Needless to say, he designs dresses for those madames rich enough to pay for his creations. In this class may be found the Misses Jaworski, Gracey, Borowicz, Ciuba, and Olejniczak. ' John 2nd fiddle Chitkin, as well as Leopold Piccolo Pete Szady, are now in business with William Misiasia Misiasiak. The ex-boys now tramp the streets of Ecorse and adjacent suburbs, playing and singing for any loose change that may be about. As a sideline, the minstrels peddle old shoes and broken alarm clocks, souvenirs of unappreciative audiences. Joe and Stanley Ferenc, unlike the troubadors mentioned, have gone up instead of down in the social scale. They harmonize for Jack Colbert and his Cosmos-Maniacs, the hottest music in America since Cab Calloway retired. Leonard Troutman, well known Hamtramck speaker, is the announcer on the Colbert Hour. Edward Boomey Mikrut, who accidentally found himself the business manager of Joe Peter Piper Petrow's four hundred chain meat market stores, deserves a small medal for his work to help Hamtramck's unemployed work- ing girls. While Boss Petrow was out shooting big game in Africa, Manager Mikrut changed the entire office personnel of Petrow, Inc., which now employs only Cosmos grads. Naturally, sister Wanda Mikrut get the best job, that of the manager's Yes girl. Pounding a typewriter for fifteen smackers a week, besides catering to the big bosses whims, Stella Wasilewich finds her hands full. Lottie Wasilewski, who also had a drag with Boomay , is ruining Petrow, Inc. with her atrocious book-keeping. Mary Kubala, the one and only, has a job well suited to her talents. Mary, who used to use basketball as a means of self- expression, now throws salesmen and peddlers from big-shot Petrow's office. Her motto: Everybody who wants to get into the office has to have a pass, even Boss Joe. How about reporters? Has Hamtramck produced anybody who can write? Sure enough. Rosalie Redlin, one time editoress of The Cosmos, is now sob- sister on Cass Nowojczyk's scandal sheet. After exposing Student Council ac- tivities for The Cosmos in 1935, ten years ago, Cass got the scandal bug and exposes anything in sight. Stanley Maksymowicz, who never liked Editor No- wojczyk anyway, challenged the latter to a duel when connected with Eleanore Kubiak in the dirt column. Eleanore not to be outdone, challenged both Stanley .46.

I, Emily Pupka, bequeath my inimitable technique to pull boners in sociolo- gy classes to Jane Chojnowski. May the laughs be on her. I, Paul Wojtyshyn, will my mathematical ability and supernatural power over Miss Courtright to future algebra students. I, Eleanore Kubiak, will my colony of freckles and my colorful blush to my freshie pal, Cassie Przystup. I, Sabina Kisielewski, will to Dorothy Skrok, my ability to get into people's way at the most inconvenient times, and to Mr. Zelakowski, my genius for tell- ing alibis. I, Joe Rowinski, will my swimming ability to Coach Chlopan's second hand string of swimmers. I, Rosalie Redlin, gladly bequeath my charming temper and my impudence to Walter Strijak. They didn't get me anywhere. I, Emma Garcia, will my chinese fingernails to all the 12B girls who don't already have 'em that way. We, Stephany Krecioch and Sabina Kisielewski, will to the next will-writers what is left of our patience, the ability to smile at people who turn in their wills five days late and the nonchalant assurance to all that their wills and be- queathments will be published. Conclusion: The class, as a whole, wills its seats to the future students attending foot- ball and basketball games and Student Association programs. We guarantee room for at least four-hundred and fifty. Also, to the Board of Education we leave the ability to produce bigger and better citizens in the renowned city of Hamtramck.
