Mr. Hunt is the student faculty advisor. Their meetings were held on Tuesday under the presidency of John Carman. The main objec- tive of the club is to further relation- ship between the school and com- munity, SAFETY PATROL Seventeen students captained by John Laser were responsible for di- recting between class traffic in Hampton halls. They were easily dis- tinguished by their white belts and their friendly help and instructions to the students and also to visitors. This group was under the capable direction of Mr. Hunt. Our best wishes are extended to next year's group. -4 WI if ? K C U' . u .jk ingn' ,ALM t.,..i-vfg--v , K V . 1 A F , .. .. A .. ...nf k,,.,.,..,,..,..-:..,tb,. f A - A- li - ' 1. The varsity players showed the underclassmen pointers in the various sports. This club promoted athletic-minded boys. DRIVERS TRAINING Mr. Hunt does an excellent job of teaching students the fundamentals of driving as well as giving ample opportunities to practice on our driver education car, In March the Bureau of Traffic Education of the Atlantic Refining Company sent two representatives to visit Hampton. Two cars were placed at our disposal, and all the Hampton students who owned licenses or learner's permits were evaluated on their driving habits. We all profited by this and we hope they will make a return visit. .W ..,,M- 1 -... v in 4 ..-f To ' F 'Y 'eit fs STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Councll under the able dlrectxon of Mr Hunt h1s done mu h to promote good fellowshlp among the student body and faeulty members A representatxve from each grade went to 1 owex txon at Duquesne Hlgh School These repre sent1t1ves brought back many good Ideas to Improve our Student Co.11c1l xn the years to come 68 LEADERS CLUB Thx club consists of slx leaders chosen from eich class 7 l The Checrle1Clers Peppers llid liislutlnll players 'ire 1utom'1t1c1lly in the club Girls Leaders Club supoorts the Peppers Chcerlmiclcrs md Glrls Bxs kerball rc-1m by buying umforms etc They sponsor dances und assemblies Mrs KTYCIS our sponsor hws clonL a lot to make thxs club 1 worthwhxte orgamrmon wlth her or mnal ldcis and hird work CHEERLEADERS CLUB lVlrs Kircxs ln order to help lnuruucl stuclnnts IH :lu ut f Lluuum., the v1r1ous che r thny hlvx emrnncl 1 p rum Q rut hi' PLL SCl'IICd All 'id' ill -P xff HAMPTONIAN d h l dershx of Nlrs Richardson and srudcnt edlror Carol Cush Tru school newspaper lU!1CIlOI1S un cr t c ea p xn lr IS dlstrlhuted once a month and lnrludas news arrlclrs gossip Cdlftbfllli and sports artlclcs The cn g urn schopl looks forward ro hm monthlx edmons with mreresr The papers xolume should grow in the years I0 COFDC SENIOR NURSES CLUB h l h eelcm careers as nurses There has been qulte a lor of actnnty II1 rho Nurses Club for I e QIYS w 0 are s g l h h h onslclerl 1 arlendmg Among the hospltals xlslted were The ,urls uslted a number of hospxm s w IC r cy were c g C:OlL1IT1'1ll Presbyterlan XX omens and Chllclrcns Hospltals They cnjoved the informal and 1hf0l'I'1X'1IlXC tours .4- 4 J JUNIOR NURSES CLUB The Junior Nurses Club IS more or less a lead up to the senlor one Various thmgs such as first and were taught ln the organnzatxon Under the capable leadership of M155 Evans we are sure these glrls wxll make excell nt nurses SILVERSMITH CLUB The Sxlversmnth Club IS a new orgamzanon It boasts ef twelve members who speclallze ln the malcmg of bowls ash trays rings 1nd ue clisps Mrs Auld lS thelr instructor and they create thexr pxeces ln the art room The superb cmftsmwnshxp of the sxlversmxths IS exhlbx ed m the specnl show case ln the hall I1-1-gg 5 an vt' Q 5 may , 'Yi' nv ,R gh , x V ., W, , W N f TI-ffzvif. wmsw r -f if 'Z 11'lfw,1yLxgZ my , Q-ag ii mfQ2fi'wft'S1sf2 ga K P sv X 1-yin-ifi 'wp 2 1, ffgzgi fi ., , :jx K1 : '- on ,Ma 4, 1, .. s i 1 T 2 Q 'f EI 85' Q , sl -gy. . 1 - Rn , A iff Q 55. v 5 W' A Q . - - L .-- ' . , ,W .N ayvfmmw Q. , fp - :. - 2 ,,. M' X , Q v V Q- i SENIOR CHOIR Senior Choir is an organization whose prime object is to furnish musical selections which are presented annually at programs during the Hampton school year. A large variety of musical selections are sung. The choir's favorites this year were 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, Stodala Pumpa, Were You There?, and The Lord's Prayer. Rehearsals were held twice a week at noon- time. Often an alto chewed on an apple while the sopranos rehearsed their high notes. The seniors who leave the choir talce with them memories of Spring Concerts, Christmas Carol Services, and, of course, some sour notes which some- how seemed to arise. BAND The student body is very proud of their Senior Band which is under the direc- tion of Mr. William Myers. The band's fine music shows the results of Mr. Myers, hard work. Their peppy marches were enjoyed by all at the football games this season. Fun and work are mixed together to make this a very successful organ- ization at Hampton. L. SENIOR BAND MEMBERS L,t.S-4-' ,.-'f' by-.k i tv PEPPERS Vffhen football season arrives, you will find the Peppers among the excitement of the football team's preparation and practice, The group is made up of twenty girls who work as one unit and who for the first time ab- sorbed the majorettes. It isn't all pleasure being a Pepper. There is plenty of hard work and re' hearsing behind the scenes. The girls practice continuously during the week and after school getting ready for the game. To prove their ability, they had many different routines, such as the Parade of the Woodeii Dolls, l-lick Night at Hampton, an Indian Routine, Flag Twirling and Witches' Routine. The girls will tell you they are proud of their new uniforms. Each one made her own outfit, which is of white and trimmed with gold braid, buttons and belt. To set off their uniforms, they have smart new hats. We are in agreement that the Peppers make the half more enjoyable and add much to the game. The unit teaches the girl to develop character, self-discipline, reliability, and poise. The Peppers are under the direction of Mrs. Frances Karcis. SENIOR PEPPERS 84 1 1 I 9 . Mi ,l 'T x if 3 V 1 MUSIC DEPARTMENT Our music department was busy from the hrst week of school, until the last day. The Senior Band started off with a bang, practicing faithfully for the coming football season. Whether we were winning or losing, Hampton's Band, under the capable direction of Mr. Myers, came through. Before, during, and at half-times of the games, the high-stepping Peppers and the sprightly band 'members kept the cheering crowd in high spirits. The band did much to give our team the support they needed for winning games. The band continued to practice each week throughout the year. They could always be depended upon for lending a helping hand. They took part in parades and other events which took place during the year. The Orchestra provided us with enjoyable strands of music at the May Queen Crowning, the class play, assemblies, and the Commencement Exercises. The Band's finale for the year was the memorable spring concert. We could not have done without all these worthwhile music organizations. They have helped so much to make our school years at Hampton pleasant ones. We shall miss the fine talent. 85 i V ,, My f , W i yi S J 1 ' l A I v f lyrx, 9 vu , 4 if Ftxr 4 i , g 5 r a s A .. :Q f' Mn' y lg ' L 1 2 .
