The Qym looked especially well-dressed in its blue and gold streamers. At one end was placed the throne for the Football Queen, Doris Wineskey, who looked very stately as Bill Blake, captain of the year, placed the crown on her head. The Top l-iatters , an orchestra affiliated with Mr. iviruk, our music teacher, helped add an extra touch of sparkle. Everyone who attended enioyed a wonderful evening which cliinaxed our successful football season. Then everyone started to look forward to the Snowball Dance. This was the evening when all of the girls could display their new gowns. After weeks of plan- ning, the long awaited night arrived. The Moonlights , an orchestra from Butler, put everyone in a romantic mood the moment they entered the door. The beautiful decorations and dancing couples added to a successful formal evening. We shall all look back fondly to all of the fun we had planning and worrying over the dances and probably wish we could do it all over again. .5 '13, gs V 1 '1 ,gif ff 5 ...vw ,f Ji Q,,- I aw! i M fu. Hump on Heneqbee With Mrs Karcis as their very capable coach, the Hampton Honeybees have played both hard and clean through another season. Their number ot followers has steadily increased and their games were well attended. When the odds were against them, they never became disheartened, but kept their nghting spirit. On the bus to The games which were away, their spirited voices could be heard singing their Honeybee Song. The senior girls on the team at the end ot each season receive blue and gold jackets unless they've earned them previously for cheerleading. The jackets are presented to them at a dinner held for all the basketball teams, both boys and girls. There were seven senior girls on the team this year and all played a hard, fast game. Although they some-times went down in defeat, they also had their share of triumphs. Ii they keep up the good work, the l-loneybees should have a successful tean: next year. Kneeling: N. Brarideg, S. XXXDN 'f Xl if x XXX?-Q After several days of deep thought, the seniors finally decided on Our Miss Brooks, a comedy in three acts, to be presented on De- cember 7 and 8. Xlfeeks before the show, the members of the cast could be seen wandering in and out of classrooms deeply engrossed in their scripts. The unsung heroes behind the scenes also were busy collecting props, constructing and painting scenery. At any Mme during the day, after rehearsal had begun, vveary cast members could be seen taking short naps in any of their classes. The hrst few nights of rehearsal went very smoothly, but then basketball practice started. We then 0ur Miss Brooks had to move to a more cramped position in Mrs. VVrEghf's room. At the same time the cast was busy with rehearsal, some of the more energetic members of ou' class were busily scooping up advertise- ments for the programs and also selling tickets. Ono night, two weeks before the big night, little white snow flakes started falling. These little flakes turned into big flakes, and the fol- lowing afternoon we found ourselves two feet deep in snow. The cast sat home, worrying away the days of the following week, but fTnally Monday rolled around and we all found our way back to school amidst the slush. Our first stop was Mrs. VVright's room where we learned that the play had beer changed to December lil and l5.eSo we could all settle down once more to a few more vlgorous practices, The days of rehearsal decreased sfviftly un- til the night of dress rehearsal arrived. This was the night when the problems at mrike-up and costumes were solved, Ths was also the night that the cast and all of the committees prepared and ate a tasty dinner. Finally the big night arrived, The audience was silent as the orchestra played its prelude selection, The Anniversary March. The loot- lights came up, the house-lights dimmed, the curtains parted and we were in Miss Brooks classroom. Naomi Schmidt, as Miss Brooks, a young and humorous English teacher, is trying to keep from having to direct the school play, when she is fcrcibly given a bundle of trouble along with Qt. First she has trouble with Hugo Long- acre, the basketball coach, because Ted Wilder, thc- mainstay of the team, has been given the lead in the play. After Jane Drew loses the ticket money, things start to clear up ci little. Everythirg turns out just as it should and Miss Brooks looks no worse for the wear, Mrs Wright again added a huge success to her list of many accomplishments, and as al- ways was appreciated by cas? ancl audience alike, for 5' iob well done. .' 1 I if r I' .
