Devastating is the word used to describe the Crabber attack. Size, speed, experience and ability were the major ingredients and under the direction of Coach Mike Smith the team captured the Virginia AAA crown. The Crabbers attributed their success to a strong all-around team. A powerful offensive line led by Ronnie Gilliam, Simon Gupton, Carl Smith and Dwight Stephenson opened holes for backs Woodrow Wilson, Donnell Jones and Marvin Brown. The offense was complimented by one of the most effective defenses in the state. Outstanding efforts on the part of Virgil Newkirk, J.J.
