SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES PROVE INTERESTING Hampton was fortunate this year to have many special assemblies. Mr. Mrs. Richard H. Raring, parent coun¬ selors, spoke on Sudden Death Syndrome. Southampton inmates talked with students in various classes. Mr. Thomas Geer lead an assembly dealing with the Rededication of the Freedom Shrine. Cindi Goodwin an Olympic participant, received a bouquet of flowers from the band. 1. Buddy Sheckler receives $25 bond for essay contest. 2. Cindi Goodwin, a participant in the Olympics, receives flowers from band member Duane Melson. 3. Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Raring, along with Anne Chisman, speak on the Sud¬ den Infant Death Syndrome. 4. Sophomore Debbie Barrett es¬ corted by Marty Stamas. DENISE LINEBERRY BASKETBALL QUEEN Basketball Homecoming will always be something special to the court members. All the attendants will remember finding their dresses and escorts both in one day. The rehearsal and actual presentation took place during the halftime of the Bethel- Hampton game while onlookers antici¬ pated the crowning of the new queen. Then Roger Goldman and Tommy Sweeney presented the honor to Denise Lineberry, who was crowned Basketball Homecoming Queen. Soph¬ omore attendants were Susan Anthony, Terry Worrell, and Debbie Barrett. Junior attendants were Betty Fedzuik and Paige Speight. Senior rep¬ resentatives on the court were Jean Jones and Kim Davis. 8 fifteen

3 1. Karen Sacks expresses her views on morning devotions. 2. Tyrone Manley ' s speech proves successful. 3. Juniors listen as candidates reveal opinions. 4. Joel Jesse campaigns for the office of vice president. The ' 73- ' 74 SCA elections were ex¬ tremely close and exciting. Many students showed their enthusiasm during the final speeches by wearing hats, carrying banners and balloons. Students listened tentively as the can¬ didates gave their speeches. Matt Horne was elected president along with Betty Fedzick as vice-president, Laura Stein as secretary, Ginny Dutrow as treasurer, and Tyrone Manley as chaplain.
