The Mighty Crabbers defeated the Menchville Monarchs 7-0 on the weekend of Football Homecoming, October 21 and 22. The brisk night air made the court members a bit reluc¬ tant to shed their coats, but they finally filed out to their positions on the field. Then the band struck up a number to add to the excitement of Regina Harris, who was crowned Home¬ coming Queen. Other attendants on the court were sophomores Linda Jenkins and Jackie Richardson, juniors Connie Farris and Gay Cross, seniors Cressondra Brown and Valerie Pearce. 1. MOCK PRESIDENTIAL CONVENTION, SUCCESS! Through the efforts of Roger Goldman and Danny McFarland, the student body was able to have a mock presidential convention. Mayor Mon¬ tague spoke on Nixon ' s behalf, Art Lieverman spoke for McGovern and the Democrats, and Lemar McGee spoke for the spirited American Party. Each speaker was greeted by rousing crys of support from their followers. In the school election where students had to register, Nixton was elected overwhelmingly. Roger Goldman pointed out that the assembly proved young people with different points of view can get together and peacefully express their opinions. 2 3 1. All the attendants will remember finding their dresses and escorts both in one day. The rehearsal and actual presentation took place during the halftime of the Bethel- Hampton game while onlookers antici¬ pated the crowning of the new queen. Then Roger Goldman and Tommy Sweeney presented the honor to Denise Lineberry, who was crowned Basketball Homecoming Queen. Soph¬ omore attendants were Susan Anthony, Terry Worrell, and Debbie Barrett. Junior attendants were Betty Fedzuik and Paige Speight.
