November lfrirzgs .glecrivu Day A mock election among the student body was held at the time of the national presidential election to determine who Hampton High School thought would make the better President ot the United States. Led by William Atwell and Gerry Steiner, the students entered into a week of active campaigning, climaxed by an assembly in which ' 1 R ,X X Gerald Steiner distributes political information to Diane Hancock and Diane Geer. Senator Victor P. Wilson and Mr. Lester Parsons, a Norfolk attorney, spoke on the campaign platforms of the Demo- cratic and Republican parties, respectively. Sixty-six per cent ot the school voted, giving Mr. Nixon the edge over Mr. Kennedy by two votes, 710-708. Registering to vote is a must in all elections. Students cast their ballots for presidential nominees.

The Garrick Dramatic Club presented Magnificent Obsession on November 9 and TO as its annual Fall Play. Under the leadership of Miss Faye Evans and student director Kay Jernigan the story of young Dr. Merrick and Mrs. Helen Hudson, wife of the brilliant brain surgeon 7 Douglas Mistler helps'with the sets. ii. ws, who had drowned because of negligence on the part of Merrick, was enacted. The lead parts were portrayed by Ned Farster and Lee Ann Dietrich. The play was a success due to the efforts of the actors, work of the people on the various committees, and interest of the student body. ,- 4 H si it Dr. Merrick tries to show Mrs. Hudson that he wants to help, not hurt her.
