Membership was 207-the largest number of people ever enrolled in tlhis organization. The meetings which were held the third Tuesday fo-f every month in the school auditorium were very interesting. Various groups provided entertain- ment on different occasions: the kindergarten and the first and second grades presented a Christmas program .directed by Mrs. Bogart and Miss Williams, while a musical under the direction :of Mrs. Willard Weisel, was presented at another meeting. . ' ' Once again the organization obtained state financial aid and sponsored -its milk program for 'the elementary students for the win-ter months. Many children took advantage of -the opportunity to purchase milk for -ten -cen-ts a week. The P. T. A. also -donated money to such worthy causes as fthe Sister Kenny Founda- tion, and -the March of Dimes and the Red Cross. This organization and the Hampton Athletic Association worked together and presented a very successful minstrel under the direction of Mr. Fred Lawton on February 26 and 27, 1948. I P. T. A. officers for the year were: President, Mr. Fred Lawton Vice-President, Mrs. Henry Winter Secretary, Miss Elizabeth Williams Treasurer, Mrs. Nahum Apgar Safety Patrol The Safety Pat-r-ol was organized in our school several years ago under the supervision of the New Jersey State Po-lice and has been very active since then. The stu-dents conduct the grammar school pupil-s across the streets at differ- ent times of the day an-d try to impress upon them the necessity of caution to their personal safety. The members of the club alternate on the Weekly shifts at 11:30, 11:45, and 2:46. Merits are given for active membership in the organization. PAGE 37
