Because of the generosity of Mr. George Sloan Arnold, the staff of the 1982-83 yearbook would take pride in dedicating this book in his behalf. This Hampshire County native was born in 1885 V and graduated from Washington and Lee University's School of Law. Mr. Arnold donated 365,000 to the Hampshire County School System for the construction of a physical fitness centerg the dedication ceremony for this building was held in june of 1982. Besides helping finance the fitness center, George S. Arnold gave S150,000 was added to this trust fund in April. The total of 5,200,000 will provide 520,000 of financial assistance in future yearsg however, this year 559,000 was avaliable for the George S, Arnold 1?UllICiifl'Ol'12l Dust as scholarships at the graduation commencement. The Hampshire County Education System has proved to be this ex-farmer's favorite charity. Mr. Arnold is presently residing at Sunnyside Nursing Home.
