Q 't v.5 Wawcleaydamm 7W Since I've earned my last million, I've decided to begin my retirement by taking a cruise around the world on the ship HIGHLIGHTERo Before boarding the ship I decide to have dinner at Antoines, a famous restaurant in New Orleans. As I enter, the head waiter Richard Rowlett motions me to a table. When I ask, What's the special for today? , he tells me that Norm Zenk, the famous chef, recommends Huevous Fritos. During my meal I'm entertained by the singing sensation Janice Kellenberger singing the J. J. Blues. I see by the clock that it is time to board the HIGHLIGHTER. Once on the ship I'm shown to my state room by Douglas Heine who hands me a bon voyage telegram from my daughter. The next morning I enjoy breakfast with captain John Prinner. He informs me that tonight's entertainment in the ballroom will feature Terry McNamara and his orchestra. Since it's such a nice day, I decide to go for a swim. Standing at the edge of the pool I see Louise Gudeman swimmingo She was recently named Queen of the Mermaids. Gazing around I notice the handsome life-guard Marvin Carlson. After an hour of swimming I decide to take a sunbath on the upper deck. Sitting down I notice the one and only Virgil Cole, house detective 0f the Sey Guest Home. Virgil tells me that he still loves his wife, Maureen. Wish- ing to cable her he leaves me. Occupying his chair is Merilyn Acree, the well-known artist of the Mac Studios. After visiting with her I make my way to the dining hall for dinner. Having been seated I see, at the table be side me, Carol Hitzman, editor of the Iove-lorn column speaking confidentially with Rey Rm the espionage agent. Over-hearing their conversation I learn that Rita Rolston, the fashion designer, is giving a fashion show at Lemont. At 7:00 I met Frank Engel who takes me below deck to see the prize calf he's taking to Spain on his good-will tour. I'm surprised to see Dick Riedl, the famous race track driver. He tells me he is going to race in Rome, Italy on May 30. Then hearing the music of Terry's orchestra I go to the ballroom and listen to the Stark Station Boggie. But no sooner am I there, than the crowd's attention is drawn toward Opal Groebner, the fabulous dancing sensation. I leave the ballroom and go to my room. On awakening the next morning I feel slightly upset and make my way to the doctor's office on the lower deck. There nurse Jean Getzleman greets me and shows me to Dr. Fred Smith. After looking at me he calmly says, Don't worry. It's only a slight case of sea sickness. Rest until the boat docks in Madrid. I take his advice and am feeling much better when Mary Alice Henning, the foreign interpreter, greets me as I leave the ship. As Mary Alice and I browse along the street we view the beautiful home of Nancy Mengeling. She too has made her million designing Made in the Shade Lamp shades. Further down the street we see a large sign above The Beach-Combers Cafe. Entering we are greeted by hostess Janet White. After enjoying one of their pOpular sea-food dinners we make our way back to the ship. Boarding just ahead of me is the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Joyce Tammes. I thank Mary Alice for her hospitality and board once again to continue my trip around the world. So far I've enjoyed the trip. Haven't you? Compliments of HAMPSHIRE PRINTING CO. HOME BARBER SHOP Elgin, Illinois 23 For appointment phone 4213 THE CURIOUS SAVAGE Presented by the Junior Class Directed by Mrs. Ruth Michael Wealthy Mrs. Savage had two sons and a daughter who had only their mother' 3 money and not her happiness 1n mind. They thought she was spending her money foolishly. In order to stop it, so that they could inherit more themselves, they put her in a mental in- stitution. From there on the plav shows many interesting actions of the different inmates. In some of the confusion Mrs. Savage' 5 money was seemingly lost, and later found where she had been keeping it inside her teddy bear. At the end of the play Mrs. Savage was proven to be sane. Her children promised to let her live her own life and spend her own money. She was able to leave the institution voluntarily if she wanted to. +5: 2-1-1- I I I - I :-:-:- 1 I 1 ll r;11l1lu1l1l.l.:ll 11 11 11. Compliments of Compliments of GEORGE HEISTEN ELBRIDGE F. To The Seniors: What role will you play on the stage of life? In Shakespeare's As You Like It, Jaq-ues says, All the world's a stage and all thg-men and wo-IrTen merely players: They have their exits and their entrances and one man in his time plays many parts. . . Fortunately, you have a choice in choosing your life's role. Unlike the lower animals, you are divinely endowed with an intellect. The lower animals seem to be content if their bodily needs are supplied. Lacking in intellect, it is hardly practical to establish schools for the lower animals. The Hampshire High School was established and put into Oper- ation because we have faith that you can rise above mere animal existence. We hope that your experience here has challenged your intellect to the extent that you have caught a glimpse of the good life - a life where truth, beauty, and goodness reign. If such a role in life is chosen by you, we can be sure that when the final curtain is lowered peOple will say you played your part well. Since rely yours , The class of 56 - being the first to spend four years in our new school-do ded- icat'e this High-Lighter to Jim McMichael, whose unfailing loyalty and un- questionable , compe- tence in the care of this building has greatly added to our appreciation for and pride in our Alma Mater.
