enior 3056 .Mabry September 5, 1949, was a much looked forward to and yet scary day for 25 freshrnen. Of these freshfes, only four have been together since first grade: Joan Holze, Elsie Kanies, Sharon Dreymiller, Bill Warrington. By the time these people were freshmen, the following had become their classmates: Edith Wilkie, Lucille Krecker, Lawanna Schultz, Ed Burnell, Ron Carlson, Leone Backhaus, Silver Joy Magner, and Bob Smith. Eight of our new freshmen class attended the Parochial school. They were Cora Schorn, Shirley Engel, Marilyn Herrmann, Dick Chamberlain, Ralph Lehnfian, .Tim Weberpal, Dick Seisser, and Rita Reiser. Oliver Olson, and Arlene Meyer attended Starks school while Marion Henning attended Doty. Our biggest night during the freshmen year was the Student Council party held especially to welcome us. To start off the year Bill Warrington was elected as our class presidentg Dick Chamberlain, Vice -President, Nancy Bruce, Secretary: Ed Burnell, Treasurer. Student Council members were .Toan Holze and Pete Gudeman. Miss Betty Cooke was our sponsor. It was easier to begin our sophomore year. One noon hour our English class put on a play for the whole school to enjoy. Remember Ron and Nancy's KiSs ? ? It made history for our class. Our sophomore class officers Were: Pres. Dick Chamberlain, Vice Pres. Dick Seisser, Sec. Nancy Bruce, Tres. Arlene Meyer. Marilyn Herrmann and Ron Carlson were our Student Council members. Mrs. .Tames was our class sponsor. We lost Ed Burnell. The Prom was an important event during our junior year. It was held in the Faust Hotel in Rockford. After a delicious dinner, dancing was enjoyed by everyone. Another big activity was the junior class play directed by Miss Obenhaus. The play, ulumpin Jupiter , was held November 16, 1951. This year the officers were: Pres. , Ron Carlsong Vice Pres. , Arlene Meyer, Sec., Nancy Brudeg Treas. , Sharon Dreymiller Student Council members were Dick Chamberlain and Marilyn Herrmann. Our class sponsor was Mr. Schmidt. Last but not least is our Senior year. The Senior Play And Never Been Kissed, was sponsored by Miss Obenhaus and presented April 16 and 17. A yearbook, The High-Lighter was sponsored by the Senior Class and Sammie , the advisor. Being the first yearbook of the new high school, we used a picture of it for the front and back covers. The officers were President, Ralph Lehmang Vice-President, Ron Carlsong Secretary, Arlene Meyer, Treasurer, Dick Chamberlain. Student Council members, Sharon Dreynaillerg and Dick Seisser, Miss Obenhaus was our class sponsor. During our four years in high school, the following people left us: Pete Gudeman, Ed Burnell, Lawanna Schultz, Edith Wilke, Bill Warrington, silver Joy Magner, .and Doris Borchers. Al Spaeth started as a senior when we moved into the new high school. Our class will be the first to graduate in the new high school building and we are very proud at that fact. 14
