It was during that period that Hampden-Sydney un- derwent its greatest hardships. CDeprived of its funds, and with its student body reduced to a mere handful, it carried on with an unbeatable spirit. It is this ability to persevere in the face of all obstacles which typifes the College. Even now, we are in the midst of another reconstruction period at Hampden-Sydney. cflgain the old spirit is aroused. It will, as formerly. over-ride the challenging circumstances, and keep the old College among the nation,s most noted.
