DI NG OFFICER J. M. HOYE CDR USN Commander James M. HOYE, the son of the Rev. J.M. and Eleanor HOYE, was born in Winchester, Virginia. He attended high school in Sanderville, Georgia and Pearisburg, Virginia and was graduated from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia. In 1951 he enlisted in the Naval Reserve and was commissioned Ensign, USNR in June 1953. After commissioning, Commander HOYE served in USS JOHNSTON QDD-821j,then transferred to the Regular Navy and served in USS C.P. CECIL QDDR-835j. He has commanded USS LAKELAND QLSM-373D and USS GENESEE QAOG-85 and served as Executive Officer, USS WALLACE L. LIND QDD-7035. He also served as Aide to Commander Service Group THREE. Commander HOYE served ashore with the U.S. Fleet Anti-Air Warfare Training Center and the Fleet Computer Programming Center, Pacific at San Diego where he worked in the development, installation and operation of digital computer programs for the Navy Tactical Data System. He is a graduate of the School of NavalaCommand and Staff, U.S. Naval War College and has done graduate work at the University of California and George Washington University. Prior to reporting to HAMNER, Commander HOYE served as Executive Officer, Data Management Agency, Headquarters, U.S. Military Assistance Command, Vietnam where he was stationed during the TET Offensive and the May 1968 Second Offensive. Commander HOYE,s decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Navy Achieve- ment Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation, the National Defense Medal, the Navy Occupation Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Commander HOYE is married to the former June Jenkins of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

EXECUTI OFFICER R.D. FREY LCDR USN Robert Dean Frey was born March 27, 19311-, in East Peoria, Illinois, and attended elementary and high school in that area. He graduated from Bradley University in 1956 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. From 1952 until entering active service, LCDR Frey was a member of Organized Surface Division 9-27. He attended Officer Candidate School in January 1957, and was commissioned Ensign in May, 1957. LCDR Frey's previous duty assignments include the Destroyers USS STEPHEN POTTER QDD-5385, USS BORIE QDD-7040, and Staff, Destroyer Squadron 25. He commanded the USS CAPE QMSI-2D from May 1960 to 1962, and later was attached to the Navy Section JUSMAAG Thailand from September, 1962, until February, 1964. Prior to reporting to the USS HAMNER, LCDR Frey was attached to the Staff of the Chief of Naval Operations in the Office of the Deputy CNO for Manpower. LCDR Frey's medals and decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, China Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Vietnamese Campaign Medal. LCDR Frey is married to the former Sue Lipscomb Self of Columbia, South Carolina.
