Class Historq On that day four years past when we first walked through the doors of Hammonton High School, we were confused be- cause we knew so little about the school. We were happy though, and optimistic because no matter what happened, we were determined to enjoy it. As we walked down the halls, we caught the smug glances of upperclassmen. But we made our way with our heads held high. All too soon the year was over. The next time we entered the halls, we were Sophomores. By this time we were settled to the customs of high school life. ln that year came the thrill of selecting our class rings. Next came our Junior year. This was a very busy time for everyone. We had the annual J unior-Senior Play in which many took part. Even though the rehearsals were hard work, everyone had fun. After the Christmas holidays and exams were over, we started planning the Prom which we were in charge of decorat- ing for the seniors. Everyone worked as hard as they could, especially when time began running out. But it turned out so well that we didn't mind the hard work we had put into it. And it was a lot of funl As we closed that chapter, we looked forward to the next and most important year in our lives, our Senior year. We initiated the freshmen by holding Freshman Day. Everyone had a lot of fun, even the freshmen, and there were no hard feel- ings. The next two big events were the J unior-Senior Prom and Senior Parent Night. Oh, what a time we had at each! Our trip to Washington was something we shall always remember. We knew it was probably the last big thing our entire class would do together, so we really made the most of it. On the last day of school, we left our classrooms and bid good-bye to our teachers and friends. And as we closed our lockers for the last time, we looked around us at all the things we had seen for four years, but at which we had never really looked: the halls, the bulletin boards, the rows of lockers along the walls. On that memorable night, as we walked down the aisles of our school auditorium to take our places together on the stage for the final time, our hearts swelled with sadness. As we sang the last few measures of our graduation song and then left the stage, tears filled our eyes. For some of us, that was pro- bably the saddest and happiest night of our lives, sad, because we had to part with our teachers and friends, some whom we might never see again, and happy, because our future place in the world, what we had all been waiting for, was just ahead of us. We walked out of the doors of our school for the last time, but our hearts remained there. We will never forget Hammon- Ion High and our friends. We have all those happy memories to keep in our hearts. X x t gt:-by fe , t .I fr, N, V C Q 0' 3 Aga X. xl! A fl fl
