1933 was the most successful year for the Hammond Tech Band since its organization in 1927. In the district contest at Valparaiso, April 15, 1933, the band placed in first division with Hammond High. These results made both bands eligible for the state contest. The Tech band competed against seven outstanding bands throughout Indiana. These bands, Hammond Tech and Hammond High, were selected to represent Indiana in the national contest. “The Study Girls,” a play, was presented June 8, 1925. Birthdays are exciting sometimes, as witness: the birth- day party of Dorothy Schuzer, Mary Mondra, and Flossie Green.
