Under Coach George Bereolos, they finished the 1954-55 season with five victories and 16 defeats. The team as a whole did well in some matches but lacked gen- eral team strength because of inexperience,” said the coach. “Manuel Ramirez, former State champion, was very helpful during this past sea- son, serving as assistant coach.” The total season ' s record was three wins and four losses. TENNIS “The Tennis team had a perfect season as far as Western division play was concerned,” said Coach Parson. The team beat East Chicago Washington, East Chicago Roosevelt, Clark, and Hammond High twice, each with a score of 5-0. They also beat Thorton Fractional by 5-0. In this modern, beauty age of ours it is no longer necessary to be told that we need exercise. It is as important to our good looks and well being as food is in building up muscle and tissue. In dancing, there is an exhilara- tion and joy felt in every move- ment and, with the exception of some of the eccentric numbers all dances are arranged with an as- surance of grace and harmony. The well-trained dancer is one whose every movement is done with ease and precision; there is a co-ordination between the mind and body in any dance step which gives one alertness and poise. Dancers may be tempera- mental, but as a rule, they are good humored and interesting. The girl who is a bit self-conscious or awkward in her movements, will find there is nothing to re- lieve her embarrassment like dancing. It works like magic in giving her a feeling that she is in tune with the world. She is thrilled with the actual musical rhythmic motion, and is awak- ened to a new joy in self-expres- sion. The dancer attracts admiration in her walk. There is always a graceful rhythm to her well- trained muscles as she glides along with an easy swing. It would be so easy for every one to move with ease and grace, if one would just give the matter a little thought, and besides the beauty of movement, it is possi- ble to conduct oneself in an intel- ligent, time-saving speed through the crowded centers.
