914 Stars in Tech Service Flag Of the 914 former Hammond Technical high school students who entered service in the current world conflict, four have fallen and they are repre- sented by gold stars on the giant service banner now at the school. The banner was presented by Mrs. Fred Jenner, left, whose son, Ray Gubte. 18, is serving in the army. In the other group, left to right, are Mrs. Harriett Simpkins, whose son. Lester, 18, was killed in action while serving with the marines: Mrs. Albert Black, whose son, Arthur, 28, was re- ported killed by the navy department, and Mrs. Ray Bitner, president of the Tech Parent-Teacher as- sociation. The two remaining gold stars in the center of the flag represent Conrad Kujawa, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kujawa, killed in action with the army, and Walter Tryka, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs, Martin Tryka, also killed in American army action!
