Assemblies break monotony During the course of the school year, several assemblies were formed to entertain and break up the monotonous school-day rou- tine. Assemblies included a yearbook sales day, the inauguration of association president Ruth Schlesinger, and a visit from the Army Jazz Band. Several pep sessions were con- ducted, one in which the student body was separated into their respective classes to envoke spirit throughout the students, faculty and teams. Standing in aisle. Events entertain students Christmas time, Halloween and other holi- days brought on a change of pace for HHS’ers. Many students took advantage of Halloween dressup day by donning funny as well as scary outfits and wearing them to class. Many visits were made this year to HHS by Hammond’s efficient fire department. Drills, as well as a real fire in a ticket booth, tested students on how fast and orderly they could exit the building. While playing record, Mr. Lawrence Lundgren serenades physics class with Christmas songs. During one of many fire drills, HHS students wait in snowfall for signal to return to building. Sitting in a cockpit, Dave Carrico and Dwayne Hill become the pilots for their class at the Air Force’s Thrill of Flight. 26 Events
