Administrative Dr. Oliver Rapp, one of the busiest men at Hammond High, has been principal throughout the Fabulous Fifties. During that time Dr. Rapp received his Ph.D. from the University ot Illinois. Counselors Miss Laura Johnston, Sophomore Counselor, Mr Robert Brock, Junior Counselor, Mr. James Hill Freshman Counselor, Mr. Charles Long, Registrar, and Mr. Homer Hightower, Senior Counselor. Hammond High's Three Muske teers, Hazel, Joan, and Pat, on daily duty cheerfully checking, an- swering, and questioning from early morning till long after the halls are empty.

English No matter what field of work one enters, his success will greatly depend upon how effectively and intelligently he can express his own ideas and interpret those ideas of others. The Department of English at Hammond High offers a total of seventeen English courses in the four phases of communication-speaking, reading, writing, and listening- giving the student opportunity to become proficient in each.
