Micl-Term Seemed like classes no sooner got settled than semester finals rolled along. Studying between finals, students filled every nook and cranny in the school. It was the only time of the year that the auditorium was quiet Cduring noon hoursl. The Association inaugurated a Big Brother program to orient the mid-term freshmen with their school. Though some of the Big Brother up- perclassmen were only 5-6, they carried out their mission, showing and telling all-about Hammond High School. D.A.R. Award Personable Sandra Seely, better known as Susie around Hammond High, was This year's recipient ot the DAR award. Based on de- pendability, leadership, service, and patriotism, the award is one of The most coveted by sen- ior girls. Sixteenth in her class, Susie studied hard in addition to being secretary of The senior class, and a member of The National Honor Society. She was active in school functions all Through high school, a House Representative in her freshman year, she also ioined Junior Red Cross and Booster Club. Her sophomore year included a part in the all-school play, and she was The Girls' State Representative as a Junior. For CI Job Well Done Though they were not nationally recognized, several students were cited for their work in social studies and interest in world affairs by ap- pearing as a panel with Mr. Carter Davidson during an auditorium ses- sion. They appeared again on Mr. Davidson's television p r o g r a m, World Spotlight, on Channel ll To help discuss and analyze the news.
