To the class of 1979, we leave 20 pounds of our delicious fruitcake. To the class of 1980, we leave our ability for choosing profitable money-making projects. To the faculty, we leave the popular phrase, We're Seniors. ” To Mr. Uhlig, we leave absolutely nothing. Steve Ayotte: Leaves his only treasured belonging, his throne, to Sam Bogart. Mark Bickelhaupt: Leaves his angelic personality to Doug Salamacha, and, to Marge, he leaves his ability to get along with Murt. Dawn Chapman: Leaves this school to any sane person who wants it. Barb Dauphinias: Leaves to the next Business Law class her ability to get along with Mrs. Hannan, and leaves to Bruce Stewart the memory of a good psychiatrist. Becky Davis: Leaves to Bruce Stewart the future, and to Sasquatch, she leaves her big brother. Debbie Farley: Leaves all her classes in school to her sister Connie and to her brother Dougie. Joe Forjone: Leaves his ability to get along with Mr. Jones to his two brothers, and vice versa. Carl Frizzel: Leaves his cooking class to Walley and his homeland, Rossie, to anyone who wants it. Denise Gates: Leaves 18 bottles of Long and Silky to Tammy Gallagher. Kim Gilmer: Leaves her love for cold, snowy winters to anyone who can stand them; T.V. dinners to Diane; and English speeches to future senior classes, because they're so much fun. Dave Hadlock: Leaves his ability to get to basketball practice on time to Dave Stowe. Gine Jolly: Leaves her highly-respected position in the cafeteria to Bacon, and the rest of her life to Mark. Reva McAvoy: Leaves her ill-famed watering hole on the soccer field to Noreen, her wild ski weekends in Vermont to Matt, and she leaves Steve to Mary Walsh. Ana Lopez: Leaves the driver ed. car to Mr. Scofield, in good condition? Polly Schermerhorn: Leaves to Jinny her ability to maintain friendly relations with Mr. Scofield, to Mark Hadlock, she leaves her desk in Math class, and she leaves her accident proneness to some other unsuspecting soccer player. Dale Spies: Leaves his great basketball expertise to Dave Lewis, because he needs it. Cindy Sullivan: Leaves a trunk full of pough bines to Reva, their exclusive recipe for browns” to Ana, and a box of red Tic Tacs to someone special. Diane Tayler: Leaves to Kim Conklin her white bodysuit in hopes that she can snap it up right; to Mr. Scofield she leaves all the railroad tracks in Gouverneur; and she leaves the state of Arizona, with all its lizards, to Hector. Allen Walsh: Is taking everything with him, because where he's going, he’ll need it. Class Prophecy It is now the year 1987, ten years after the Class of '77's graduation. Let's look and see what everyone is doing with their lives. Steve Ayotte thinks that he has come up with a new drinkable chemical solution which is colorless and odorless. However, his associates are afraid to tell him that it's only water. Mark Bickelhaupt is still trying to land a contract to sell his eggs to the ''Egg Beaters Company. Dawn Chapman has just moved to Hollywood and has succeeded in luring away all of Vidal Sassoon's customers. Barb Dauphinias is now the leading socialite of suburban Mallotsville. Becky Davis is trying to increase the size of her sheep herd by breeding them with the Loch Ness Monster. Debbie Farley has recently bought out Gary Bass and has put the store on wheels. Maybe you've seen her down at the Park Plaza? Kathy Fleming has just completed her training to be a throat specialist and is attempting to set up practice in Rossie. Joe Forjone is now teaching physics in a suburban high school in Waterloo. We hear that he's quite efficient ... he always did love physics! Carl Frizzell has just finished payment on his tobacco plantation in Rossie. He has originated a new brand of ciga- rettes called Royal Yaco. Denise Gates is still the same robust cheerleader that she always was. Kim Gilmer has followed in Mr. Acofield's footsteps and is presently teaching driver education in Morristown. How many cars is it now? Dave Hadlock, the famed Boston Celtic superstar, has just held his most important news conference in which he allegedly referred to his coach as being a big brute and claimed that he smells like fish. Gracious! Gine Jolly is the head nurse at the Medical Center and has been seen lately with Dr. Ducktail Gannon. Ana Lopez is still trying to establish a Colombian embassy in Hammond. Tenga suerte, Ana! Reva McAvoy has just completed her tenth year in journalism. She has done quite well, so Barbara Walters . . . Watch out! Mary Ryan is currently listed as the top female farmer of American Frog Farmers. Polly Schermerhorn graduated last year from Canton's agricultural college and is presently sowing her wild oats. Dale Spies is now happily residing on Bean Hill, Makin' Bacon. Cindy Sullivan is currently working to perfect a way to play her flute underwater. In a recent interview, she stated that the snorkel gave her a few problems, but she will keep on trying. Diane Taylor is continuing her career in the Air Force and is celebrating her 10th anniversary as being the world's first woman Kamikaze pilot. Allen Walsh is just completing his 9th year in boot camp and, in doing so, has set a new world's record. 21 Yearbook Staff Cindy Sullivan, Editor Diane Tayler, Assistant Editor Mark Bickelhaupt Dale Spies In years to come when looking through the 1977 Spotlight each of us will see something different. But, I will see the efforts of those few people who, along with Mrs. Hannan, gave so unselfishly of their time to make the 1977 Spotlight a yearbook to remember. We moved into it and we grew with it. It became a part of us, and we a part of it. Yet, its story was not of us, but ALL the students at Hammond Central. Now the year- book lives. It has been created after many long and hard, yearning and learning hours. If you can recall pleasant memories ... we have not failed. If there are times, while you page through our book, that you wish you could relive ... we have not failed. If the individual feelings for the year are easily remem- bered: the study halls - boring; the teachers - rigid; the halls - impossible; the snow - the Blizzard of '77 . . . we have not failed. Our yearbook, in its final form, is no longer the Impossi- ble Dream;” instead, it is full of our dreams and hopes for a future American Dream. cs, dt Js. To the Class of 77 When things go wrong, as they sometimes will When the road you're trudging seems uphill When your funds are low, and your debts are high And you want to smile, but you have to sigh When care is pressing you down a bit Rest if you must, but don't quit. It's happiness for which everyone yearns, But, life is strange, with its twists and turns And many a failure turns about When they might have won, had they stuck it out So stick to your goal when you're hardest hit It's when things seem worse, that you mustn't quit.
