dikes history The rest of the world had just settled down to a peaceful existence when the Class of '70 burst into the halls of Hammond Central School eager to start the journey through their high school years. No sooner had we arrived than we engaged in sports, music and all other activities open to us. Our first year in high school was quite different than the grades. We now had the opportunity to elect officers which were as follows: Mark McGregor, president; Leslie Slate, vice-president; Pat Langtry, secretary; Jim Walsh, treasurer; and Karen Gibson, class representative for Student Council. We chose Mrs. Joan Spies for our advisor. She willingly helped us with our class project which consisted of food sales and dances. The profits from these projects would be for our ultimate goal, our Senior Trip. With our Freshman year behind us, we started our sophomore year with enthusiasm and a little money. Once again we elected class officers who were; Lon Hollister, president; Judy Milsap, vice-president; Karen Gibson, secretary; Pat Langtry, treasurer; and Mark McGregor as Student Council representative. Mrs. Cameron took on the task of advising us. Through the year we sold magazines, held dances, food sales, and car washes to increase our treasury. Our Junior year brought more activities, such as dances, food sales, car washes, selling fruit- cakes and note paper. Our biggest event in this year was our Junior Prom. Our theme was Ti- juana Sunset . Although we didn’t make much of a profit, we had fun planning new ideas and putting them into use in our decorations. None of this would have been possible without our humble advisor, Mr. Aitcheson and our class officers: Pat Langtry, president; Mary Doyle, vice-president; Leslie Slate, secretary; George Forsythe, treasurer; with Alan Ayotte and Mark McGregor as Student Council representatives. September 1969, twenty-four proud Seniors entered room no. 162 with Mrs. Hannan as our ad- visor. Realizing the value of this year we took careful precautions in electing our officers. As our leaders we chose: Connie Tayler, president; Leslie Slate, vice-president; Pat Langtry, secretary; George Forsythe, treasurer; and Mark McGregor and Alan Ayotte as Student Council representa- tives. We held food sales, sold fruitcakes, stationery, sponsored dances and sold refreshments at the basketball games. These activities and the yearbook have all helped to earn enough money for our Senior Trip. We plan to go to Washington D. C. , which has been our goal since we were Freshmen. Throughout our four years the students, parents, and teachers have made our trip possible by supporting all of our activities. We wish to thank everyone who helped make our high school days memorable ones.
