Gfass History On September 7, 1965, the doors of Hammond Central School opened to thirty two Freshmen. Uncertain of our future we began The Best Years of Our Lives. With Mrs. Campbell as our advisor and led by our class officers; President - Sheila Emrich, Vice-President - Beatrice Bogart, Secretary - Marty Milsap, Treasurer - Greg Lavar’n- way, and Student Council Treasurer - Julie Langtry, we obtained funds for our treasury by holding a food sale, selling candy, and sponsoring a dance. We launched our Sophomore year by electing the following class officers; Presi- dent - Vernon Barney, Vice-President - George Jolly, Secretary - Marty Milsap, Treas- urer - Bob Decker, Student Council Secretary - Doug Decker, and Student Council Rep- resentative - Sheila Emrich. With Mr. Bowers as our advisor we conducted various money making activities. Selling Magazines and sponsoring several dances were among them but, the climax to our Sophomore year was our spaghetlic supper. We profited well on this project which we are sure will go down as a milestone in the history of spaghetti suppers. We began our Junior year by electing the following as class officers; President - Vernon Barney, Vice-President - Julie Langtry, Secretary - Marty Milsap, Treasurer - Bob Decker, Student Council Representative - Gary Hunter. Under the guidance of Mr. Solomon and Mr. Slater we sponsored two dances and sold candy. The highlight of our Junior year was our Junior Prom, Three Coins in a Fountain. In the summer of our Junior year our class was represented in South America by Diane Amyot and Julie Langtry: Diane venturing to Lima, Peru; and Julie to Bogata, Colombia. Eureka! We have reached our destination by becoming Seniors of Hammond Cen- tral School with President - Carl Gascon, Vice-President - Doug Decker, Secretary - Diane Amyot, Treasurer - George Jolly, Student Council President - Sheila- Emrich,. Student Council Representative - Sherry Segouin, and our advisors Mr. Chapman and Mr. Ritzman. We will try to fulfill the requirements of being Seniors. We hope to sell stationery, sponsor dances, go on our Senior trip, complete the '68 Spotlight, and climax our high school years by graduating in June.
