We are hoping that we will glimpse at the shades of the year 1967 by looking into this issue of the Spotlight. Even now, these past years are slowly moving into shadows of memory. Therefore, we, the Senior Class, invite you to look back at the Shades of ‘67, and we sincerely hope that the ‘67 Spotlight will preserve some event in your mind, also. 4 Advisor - - - - Co-editors - - - Assistant Editor ■ Business Manager Photography - - Class History - Typists - - - - Advertising Agents - Mr. D. While trying to present each division of H. C. S. completely, we have also tried to present them well enough to keep the past events alive for decades to come. The whole class would like to express their deepest gratitude to Mr. Ritzman, our yearbook advisor, who has put in long hours of labor on the yearbook. The senior class and the advisor will surely remember the time and effort that go into making such an annual. We feel that your satisfaction will be our compensation. We, the senior class of Hammond Central School, proudly, enthusias- tically, and humbly present to you the 1967 “Spotlight”. CPrincipa s UlCessage It is time to formally congratulate another Yearbook Staff for organizing and publish- ing another outstanding record book. For years to come this book will increase in value to the school and to the individual owner of each copy. In many cases it will be the only permanent record of various activities and pupils active in the many school functions. Therefore, I offer my personal and professional congratulations for a splendid book and a job well done. 8 Davis. S. Collister District Principal Cffoarcf of e ducation SEATED: H. Pitcher, G. Guided by our advisor, Mr. Aitcheson, and led by our officers. President - Wiley Youngs, Vice-President - David Roberts, Secre- tary - Elaine Hunneyman, Treasurer - Sheila Rogers, and Student Council Member - Linda Atkins, we commenced our many activities which blazed the path to our Senior Year. During our Sophomore year, we increased our class treasury with the sale of magazines and we attempted a Celebrity Auction. Mr. Chapman was our advisor, and the class officers were President - Patrick Gibson, Vice-President - Dennis Hanson, Secretary - Wiley Youngs, Treasurer - Dave Roberts, and Student Council Members - Elaine Hun- neyman and Steve Storie. Our Junior Year was climaxed by the event that every Junior awaits anxiously--the Junior Prom. The theme we chose was Everyone's Gone to the Moon. A great deal of hard work and long hours went into preparations, but our rewards were priceless. Our class officers were President - Dennis Hanson, Vice-President - Dave Roberts, Sec- retary - Linda Atkins, Treasurer - Carol McAvoy, Student Council members - Steve Storie, Carol McAvoy, and Pat Gibson. Mr. Bariteau and Mr. Chapman joined forces to act as our advisors. The summer of our Junior Year saw the class spread far and wide. We were separated by summer jobs, which took us to the far corners of the state, by family trips which took us to distant continents, and by the Foreign Exchange Student Program, which took Linda Atkins to Nicaragua, Claudette Amyot to Colombia, and Carol McAvoy to Hawaii. In exchange for the experiences our students enjoyed abroad, we were fortu- nate in having three students come to our school from foreign lands. At last our Senior.Year, the last step in high school, arrived. We were full of antici- pation as to what our last year would hold in store. Our class officers are President - Linda Atkins, Vice-President - Wiley Youngs, Secretary - Elaine Hunneyman, Treas- urer - Dennis Hanson, Student Council members - Steve Storie, Claudette Amyot, and Patrick Gibson. Our advisor is Mrs. Campbell. Our biggest project of the year is the Spotlight 67. We have labored over the pages to make everything turn out as we have planned. We have gone through hectic nights at yearbook meetings so our book will be well organized and on time. The climax of our high school years will come one day in June. We will be graduated from Hammond Central School. We have just begun. Senior G ass Officers L. to R.: Dennis Hanson, Treasurer; Elaine Hunneyman, Secretary; Mrs. H. Campbell, Advisor; Linda Atkins, President; Wiley Youngs, Vice- President. MOTTO; We Have Finished Only To Begin. She arrived at the end of December and has been a most welcomed guest of the Senior Class and of the school. She resides at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Amyot during her stay here. Mary is one of three exchange students who are guests at our school during the '66-'67 school year. We are sorry to say that information on the two other exchange students was un- available at press time. 16 Band Librarian All-State Sectional Band pep Band Brass Choir Cheerleader Student Council Vice President Valley League Band Solo Competition Chorus National Honor Society Secretary President Le Cercle Francais President Interscholastic Sports Yearbook Staff Senior Play LINDA CHRISTINA AMYOT NICKNAME: Din BIRTH DATE: January 13, 1949 SAYING: Oh No! Though no longer a faculty member of Hammond Central School, Mrs. Preston gave generously not only to our class, but also to the entire high school during her four short years here. The genial personality and her efficiency as a teacher have made her popular and highly respected. To you, Mrs. Preston, this dedication is only a small way to thank you for your service to us.
