Class Hisfory Three years ago last September the class of '53 began its long and tedious journey through high school with eighteen members. Coach Ashcraft was their advisor during their Freshman year. Big events on the calendar that year were a box social and card party. Mr. walter Garner took over as their advisor during their Soph- omore year. Their fund-raising projects-the sale of Christmas cards, a card party, a hay ride and a Harvest Ball- continued to increase their treasury. During their Junior year, assisted by their advisor, Miss Nelda Young, they conducted the School Lunch Milk Program. That proved to be quite a head-ache but it was a worthy project and helped out with class funds. The Junior Prom put the finishing touches on the H.C.S. social calendar. when they reached the rank of Seniors, they had only fourteen members to their credit, two of whom dropped out during the year. Mrs. Helen Eustis has been advisor this year. Class activities include ed a card party, the sale of stationery and Christmas cards. The sale of refreshments at basketball games kept the members busy and devel- oped many an expert at cooking nhot-dogs'. Their bank account looked brighter after depositing the profit from the school paper and school pictures. The Senior play,nMystery in the Libraryn was the high-light of the year. True to its name it was a thriller to the very end. The last fund-raising activity before the Easter trip to New York was a dance in the school gym. Jess and his St. Lawrence Valley Boys furnished the music and everybody seemed to have a good time. The Seniors would like to take this opportunity to thank the townspeople for the support of their activities and for making the Senior trip a reality. 9 '9- 5 IF YOU CAN LOOK INTO THE SEEDS or TIME, Og O09 AND SAY WHICH GRAIN WILL GROW AND WHICH WILL NOT, SCJ, --William Shakespeare It is now 1973 and, being interested in the future welfare of these members of the Class of '53, we did a little investigating. Below is printed a report of our findings. Don nMikann Reed just signed a contract for 325,000 annually to play with the Syracuse Nationals. He occasionally issues passes to his old friends, notably Coach Ashcraft, now retired, who goes down to see his former star perform. Leon LaRue became a ladies' hair stylist, specializing in his famous red rinse. T. G. Lewis is at present filibustering to prevent a new bill on a ceiling price for coal from being passed by the Senate. We couldn't contact Donald Turnbull, as he was off on another safari, big game hunting in Africa. Ruby Randall is now running a nursery school for working mothers, a continuation of her baby-sitting days in high school. Ken Woytek is happy with his recently acquired commission as Admiral of the United States Navy. Dick Seguin just entered his hot-rod Chevy in the auto races at the Indianapolis Speedway. He presents a rather grotesque appearance now, as his nose has been broken three times when he hit the windshield after applying the brakes too fast. Allen Dunham is the very efficient manager of a large prize holstein farm. We went through the barns and inspected the herd and who should we find working for him but Mr. Zimmer! B111 McCormick has been assigned to permanent K. P. duty in the Army, a 20-year man. His experience at the hot dog counter during basketball games fitted him for the position. Marguerite Hollister, after considerable experience in dramatics and music in high school, has just replaced Martha Wright as the star of nSouth Pacific.n Paul Truax, after bankrupting his father's insurance business, has decided that the world is too much for him and retreated to a Tibetan monastery. Ardell Stevenson, being used to a class where the boys outnumber the girls, applied for admission to Clarkson College and is now one of the country's foremost chemists. Cliff is her receptionist, keeping away people who make too many demands upon the time of the famous scientist. 10 565 X gf gy lst row: J. Randall, M. Gardner, A. Clark, B. Gibson, L. Jones, C. Youngs flied The present Junior Class started and completed its Freshman year with twenty-one members. Mr. Edward Brignall was advisor. Activities held to raise money included a Ha1lowe'en dance, a skating party and a baked goods sale. when they became Sophomores, their ranks included 19 members with Mr. Walter Garner as their advisor. Their treasury swelled during the course of the year because of their sponsoring a magazine contest. A George Washington dance and baked goods sales also helped to increase the class fund. Now that they have reached their Junior year, they still number 19 members. Miss Nelda Young is their advisor , In addition to a card party held in November and a Victory dance after the Morristown ball- game, they expect to sponsor a Hostess party, baked goods sales, and- last but far from least- the Junior Prom. Needless to say, the aims of the class are to keep their present members and to have sufficient funds for their Senior trip. , 12 I lst row: J. McCormick, A. Hunter, M. Meeker, C. McDougall, M. The starting five consisting of Dave Marsaw, Roger Gilmer, Rodney Shove, Tommy Chapman and Dale Schermerhorn will be sorely missed by the team when another season rolls around. These boys will no doubt be favorably heard from when they play Varsity ball during the next three years.
