LIEE, LIBERTY andthe PEE EIT of EAPPI ES Life is not mere existenceg there is something more to the wind-ripples in the wheatg something that defies definition . . . we feel it in the wind-songg lonely airg knowing stars . . . we reach for it, seldom touch it, but in our search find it. Deep in the porous black earth is the begin- ning of life-life whose stirring vital- ity and continuous growth demands freedom in its extension and design. The strongest s.talks, still searching, will rise above the clouds. The new and the old mergeg the best is gleaned from both. Happiness is not enjoyed alone. It must be passed on, put back into the soil. A new cycle must be begun-life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Standing in the wind, we must feel itg seeing the sun, be warmed by itg feeling the rain, sooth- ed by it.

Your days of study in stuffy rooms when the sunshine and cool breezes offered disturbing suggestions, your long hours of sweeping floors, washing dishes, or standing behind a counter when all others seemed to be enjoying themselves, your turning off the radio and reading until three when you could be listening to Bob Hope, or better still, going to sleep, your buying a trig text instead of a theater ticket-all these decisions have made you worthy of this dedication.
