M' new will 11 ,lily l Let us now with earnest hearts and with exalted faith and hope solemnly consecrate this building to its high and holy purpose. May the youth of this community for generations to come gather in this place to receive instruction in knowledge and training in virtue. May they find here every condition necessary to a true and enlighted education. Especially, may their teachers be examples of excellence in scholarship and character, seekers after goodness and truth, lovers of children, enthusiasts and adepts in the finest of all arts, the development and inspiration of human souls. May these rooms always be pervaded with an invigorating atmosphere of mental and moral life, and may no child pass from these schools to higher grades or to the outer world without having been made more intelligent, more thoughtful, more courageous, more virtuous, and in every way more capable of wise and just, of useful and noble living. To this end, may the blessing of God be more upon child and parent, upon pupil and teacher, upon principal and superintendent and upon every one whose influence will in any degree affect the work of education as it shall be conducted within these walls. Groups and societies can never be more than the sum of the individuals who It is my hope that each of you take with you from this school a knowledge and appreciation the dedication and sacrifice that has gone into the foundation of this natlon. Hold fast to the and ideals on which our nation was founded, never forgetting that free public education the backbone of these ideas and ideals. She is always willing to give a helping hand and nothing she attempts goes undone. Chosen for Dedjca tion The 1980 Piper has also been dedicated to Ms. Geneva Carter. She was chosen for her outstanding work in the classroom. She also directs the one-act-play and goes through many headaches with the annual staff. The 1979-80 annual staff is proud to dedicate the yearbook to two super people. Dr. Whitton must have some really good mail. Mrs. Carter seems to know what she is doing-but do the other two? 120 1 N T , J . -.., 1, l , l ffm.. K ft . V 7 A ' L . I do hope you will like and enjoy your PIPER 80. Every picture and word will be cherished in years to come. I would like to thank the entire staff and Stephanie Haught, a terrific person to work with, and special thanks to Ms. Geneva Carter, a wonderful sponsor. I hope this annual meets everyone's approval and pleasure. Shanon Hinkle It is hard to believe that the time has come for the seniors to be leaving Hamlin High and traveling their separate ways. It seems that just yesterday we entered high school as a group of very frightened, confused freshmen. The time has come for us to leave our friends and step into the world as mature young adults. We have all encountered many obstacles during school-defeat in sports, failure on tests, and disappointment in our own personal lives. Nevertheless, the good has always prevailed over the heartaches. l encourage everyone to take the time to give serious thought about the theme chosen for this annual-WE'LL NEVER WALK THIS WAY AGAIN. Make good use of your time, while in school. Each must choose his own road. Our high school pathway has ended, we have come to a fork in the road. The direction we turn may make all the difference. May your choice be a wise one. Sincerely yours, Stephanie Haught JI w ww i . 25 - I LL in . , A , Q lb. ' l F ADVERTISING L anis gf ' Q42f:-a:g-1'fs- X mg Q . N. A-.' 'I A , ',...
