CLASS HISTORY ln August of 1973, we, the juniors of today, ventured over the threshold of Hamlin High School, a bunch of wide-eyed, nid Freshmen, and proceeded shyly to wet our feet in the sea of knowledge. We did not venture very far at first, but overed, either singly or in tiny groups, near the shore, and looked longingly at the groups of upper classmen who sped laugh- :gly by with the air of ease and self-confidence which was the envy of all self-conscious Freshmen. 1 We did not stand long with our fingers in our mouth, but found our places in the activities of dear old Hamlin High. Our 'reshman class favorites were Elise Kelly and Clint Wheat. The class officers for this supposedly green year were: President, ue Sellers, Vice-President, Leroy Gardner, Secretary, Lisa Howard, Reporter, Elise Kelly, Treasurer, Roger Austin. Our Piper lueen nominee was Elise Kelly. The officers for our second year were President, Paul Reynolds, Vice-President, Kyle jackson, Secretary, Elise Kelly, reasurer, Cheryl Baker, Reporter, Kayla Nlehaffey. Almost everyone seems to be glad to be getting out of school for a while. For the seniors, however, it will be the last chance that we get to actually enjoy school. I know most seniors won't admit it, but the most fun we ever had occurred every day we occupied this building. School was the only thing that assured us that we would see all of our friends the next day. We could meet each other down in the bandhall, or sit for a while in the cafeteria, or talk to each other on the parking lot. We enjoyed the jokes, the pranks Iwell, most of themlj, and the fun that we had each day in school. We all were together for seven hours each day. When the last bell rang, everyone exchanged last farewells in the halls before moving back into the lonely world of family. For some, getting out in cars at night helped to relieve some of the loneliness. In this way, as many as six or eight people could at least enjoy the company of a crowd. Doing things together in large groups was the greatest pleasure anyone could experience. The carnivals, the mass birthday parties, and the club or! organization trips kept us together so that we could enjoy life. Many people possessed the ability to get enjoyment fromj anything and everything. They were the lucky ones. Others had to try awfully hard to find something that could make theml happy for a while. j The time is up for the seniors. We have succeeded in getting alot ofjoy out of our junior high and high school years. Bud we have also failed, for we have not been able to stop the clock that could keep us as kids forever. Our last bell has rung,l and it is time for us to leave. We aren't kids anymore by anyone's standards. We are expected to act like mature adults and tol associate with those our own age. I have enjoyed all my friends I I think I had somej in all the classes, and you've done sol much to help me enjoy life. I'm sure all the seniors could say that to someone. We won't be here next year, but please don'tl forget us. We'll never forget you and the great times we had in Hamlin High School. And remember, enjoy life and getl the most out of it while you're this young. The clock doesn't stop. j I Sincerely yours, I Gary Ford I I I I I 6,69 144 - .,.' .Fi Yfauybp vusLismr4o cowmv - New my mu ' ffl .--1. NIIW I- Iv II I-Q--.. ,. Hksini.
