Students in college preparatory courses are presented all the basic concepts they can assimilate in the fundamental ideas and techniques of mathematics. The efforts of the department have been well rewarded by the outstanding record of the math team in the state-wide contests. Through stimulating lectures and outside-class research, the student comes to a greater un- derstanding of his values, traditions and culture, and of his society, his country, and himself. Science To meet continued growth in student interest in science, the course offerings have been expanded each year. This past September earth science was offered to all freshmen. New equipment obtained for the course provided many interesting laboratory exercises. An auto-clave, purchased this year, helped to speed-up sterilization of culture media. Also as nature took her course, addi- tional cages were necessary for new generations of hamsters and mice. New equipment in both physics and chemistry has enabled students to obtain faster and more accurate measurements of data which, in turn, have produced more accurate results in student experiments.
