CLASS HISTORY The big year finally arrived when 86 seventh-grade pupils came from Shadeville, Lockbourne, and Obetz grade schools to Hamilton High. Even though we were only in Junior High, we felt as if we were already a part of 'Old Hamilton'. A big thanks goes to Mrs. Brewer and Miss Thompson, who had a big hand in get- ting us acquainted with our new classmates, and of course, studying. Seventy-eight eager voices answered to roll call as eighth grade home room teachers, Mr. Gordon and Mr. Baughman, checked attendance. Never will we forget our first trip together as a class. We went to the zoo. 1'm sure Wayne Gaines will never forget the escapade on the ferris wheel. He turned green at the sight of it. By the time our freshman year rolled around, many things became a reality rather than a dream. Out very first class officers were: Almeda Adams, president: Bill Brigner, vice-president: Esther Derby, secretary: and Bill Smith, treasurer. Tennie Adams, and Larry Watts were chosen student council representatives. Esther Derby made a very pretty representative for our class on the football homecoming court, and Pat Gab- aree on the basketball court. Roll count was now 73. Time sure does fly. Here we were sophomores already. We were really in the groove of things by now, new ideas and new adventures happening everyday. This year's class officers turned out to be: Ronnie Cra- ven, presldentg Phil Ables, vice-president: Esther Derby, secretary: and Wayne McCar1n, treasurer. Carol Roof, Pat Gabaree and David Hoon were on student council this year. Gradually we became to know each other as close friends, as well as classmates, One of our first thrills as juniors was when we chose our class colors, and flower. With practically a unanimous vote, the colors of blue and white, and the white rose were chosen to carry us through our remain- ing years at Hamilton. We were very proud of those kids who made honor society - John Snyder, Esther Derby Phil Ables, Joyce Cole, Alice Kuhn, Marjorie Frederiksen, Almeda Adams, Tim Gibbs, and Martin McDow. The biggest project that we sponsored this year was our class play, Beauty and the Beef. with Pat Gabaree, Ronnie Craven, Pat Agnew, and Phil Ables having the leading parts. Student director was Beverly Herron, while Miss Berdene Coombs was the director. None of us, I am sure, will ever forget those crazy nightly re- hearsals, especially Miss Coombs. Our middle name this year was money. Every possible way to make money was covered sometime during the year. Our goal was to get enough money for a Junior-Senior Prom, which the juniors always give in honor of the graduating seniors. Cake sales, candy sales, magazine sales, and tax stamps were included in our busy year. Mr. O'De1l and Mr. Shipley were our class advisors. 4 THE SADIE HAWKINS DANCE was one of the most unique dances we sponsored. Evervone had a won- derful time. Sharon Mitchell was chosen Sadie Hawkins and Bill Smith was the preacher. This was a thrilling year for Sondra Rhoades and Pat Agnew. These two girls were our class represent- atives on the football homecoming court. Carolyn Forshey and Oleta Adams had their turn on the basketball court. Cheerleaders for both sports were: Almeda Adams, Carol Roof and Sandy Rhoades. Fourteen boys proudly represented our class on the 1956 Co-Championship football team. The wonderful moment had finally arrived. For five years we had worked diligently to raise the money for one of the most remembered events in our school career, the Junior Senior Prom. An exceptional combo and four hours of dancing set the stage for a successful Prom at the Deshler Hilton Hotel on May 11, 1957. with this we ended our unforgettable junior year.
