Even though we were only in Junior High, we felt as if we were already a part of 'Old Hamilton'. A big thanks goes to Mrs. Brewer and Miss Thompson, who had a big hand in get- ting us acquainted with our new classmates, and of course, studying. Seventy-eight eager voices answered to roll call as eighth grade home room teachers, Mr. Gordon and Mr. Baughman, checked attendance. Never will we forget our first trip together as a class. We went to the zoo. 1'm sure Wayne Gaines will never forget the escapade on the ferris wheel. He turned green at the sight of it. By the time our freshman year rolled around, many things became a reality rather than a dream. Out very first class officers were: Almeda Adams, president: Bill Brigner, vice-president: Esther Derby, secretary: and Bill Smith, treasurer. Tennie Adams, and Larry Watts were chosen student council representatives. Esther Derby made a very pretty representative for our class on the football homecoming court, and Pat Gab- aree on the basketball court. Roll count was now 73. Time sure does fly. Here we were sophomores already. We were really in the groove of things by now, new ideas and new adventures happening everyday. This year's class officers turned out to be: Ronnie Cra- ven, presldentg Phil Ables, vice-president: Esther Derby, secretary: and Wayne McCar1n, treasurer. Carol Roof, Pat Gabaree and David Hoon were on student council this year. Gradually we became to know each other as close friends, as well as classmates, One of our first thrills as juniors was when we chose our class colors, and flower. With practically a unanimous vote, the colors of blue and white, and the white rose were chosen to carry us through our remain- ing years at Hamilton. We were very proud of those kids who made honor society - John Snyder, Esther Derby Phil Ables, Joyce Cole, Alice Kuhn, Marjorie Frederiksen, Almeda Adams, Tim Gibbs, and Martin McDow. The biggest project that we sponsored this year was our class play, Beauty and the Beef. with Pat Gabaree, Ronnie Craven, Pat Agnew, and Phil Ables having the leading parts. Student director was Beverly Herron, while Miss Berdene Coombs was the director. None of us, I am sure, will ever forget those crazy nightly re- hearsals, especially Miss Coombs. Our middle name this year was money. Every possible way to make money was covered sometime during the year. Our goal was to get enough money for a Junior-Senior Prom, which the juniors always give in honor of the graduating seniors. Cake sales, candy sales, magazine sales, and tax stamps were included in our busy year. Mr. O'De1l and Mr. Shipley were our class advisors. 4 THE SADIE HAWKINS DANCE was one of the most unique dances we sponsored. Evervone had a won- derful time. Sharon Mitchell was chosen Sadie Hawkins and Bill Smith was the preacher. This was a thrilling year for Sondra Rhoades and Pat Agnew. These two girls were our class represent- atives on the football homecoming court. Carolyn Forshey and Oleta Adams had their turn on the basketball court. Cheerleaders for both sports were: Almeda Adams, Carol Roof and Sandy Rhoades. Fourteen boys proudly represented our class on the 1956 Co-Championship football team. The wonderful moment had finally arrived. For five years we had worked diligently to raise the money for one of the most remembered events in our school career, the Junior Senior Prom. An exceptional combo and four hours of dancing set the stage for a successful Prom at the Deshler Hilton Hotel on May 11, 1957. with this we ended our unforgettable junior year. Time's getting short. Only nine short months to go, and we will have completed our twelve years of school. Our graduating class began the year with 59 students. First off, the senior class chose their class officers: Bob Newberry was elected to the important job of president, John Snyder, vice-presidentg Dave Hoon, secretaryg and Les Essig, treasurer. Martin McDow was selected as editor of the annual and his assistant editor was Phil Ables. Other annual staff members were: Pat Agnew, Mickey George, Bill McPherson, Ronnie Craven, Bob Newberry, Esther Derby, and Carolyn For- shey. It didn't take the boys long to start football practice. Our class had l'7 boys on the team. The two co- captains, Bob Newberry and Les Essig, did a wonderful job all season. We were very proud to have two members, Dave Hoon, and Les Essig, make the Franklin County All-County football team. Les was also on the All-Ohio football team. On what seemed the coldest night in the year, we had our Football Homecoming. Esther Derby was crowned Queen and her Maid of Honor was Pat Agnew. Senior attendants were Almeda Adams and Carol Roof. Next on the agenda was basketball. Three senior boys made varsity. Charlie Bakenhaster, Dave Hoon and Les Essig. Les made All-County basketball. The team won the runner-up trophy at the tournament, January 24 was picked for our Basketball Homecoming. Queen Carolyn Forshey reigned over the game and dance. On her court were: Maid of Honor, Oleta Adams, and attendant, Betty Caldwell, Mistress of Cere- monies, Pat Agnew. King for a Day. That was Martin McDow's title February 14. The entire student body elected Mar- tin as their king for Valentines Day 1958. He picked as his queen, Mickey George. The royal couple reigned over a wonderful dance held in their honor. An exciting day for two of our seniors was Citizenship day at the Franklin County Court House, where John Snyder served as Judge, and Joe Chandler as Purchasing Agent. Another wonderful honor John earned was placing twenty-second in the state in the Franklin County Scholarship Test and placing second in the county. Much of our time was spent participating in the various clubs. Senior officers were: G, A. A. president, Marion Graham, Almeda Adams, treasurer. Tri-Hi-Y president, Carolyn Forsheyg vice-president, Oleta Adamsg secretary, Carol Roof: treasurer, Esther Derby: and chaplain, Sandie Rhoades. Hi-Y- Ronnie Craven president: Bill McPherson, vice-president: Martin McDow, secretary: Wayne McCann, treasurer: Future Teachers -Mickey George, presidentg Dick Edwards, vice-presidentg Joe Chandler, treasurer. Varsity H- Dave Hoon, presidentg Bob Newberry, vice-presidentg Band president, Bill McPhersong President of Glee Club, Esther Derbyg and secretary Sandy Rhoades. We sponsored several dances this year, one of them being a Christmas dance to get cash donations and small articles for the Columbus State Hospital. And then the time finally arrived. We've been planning this day for twelve years, and now it was finally here - Graduation. We sat and listened to our Valedictorian, John Snyder, and Salutatorian, Tim Gibbs, give their speeches. It was then that we really realized what was ahead of us. Never will we forget these twelve years. We're still dreaming but someday our dreams will come true if we all follow our class motto: Success fully, Faithfully, Bravely. CLASS OFFICER :aTl'83SU1'6l'..,.. .,.. The Spring Program included the choirs of each elementary school and the Glee Club. The two ensembles composed of ten girls each, have done a great deal to make this a successful year. Presenting: From Walt Disney MARCHI An added attraction to every football game was Hami1ton's seventy-piece marching band. The band practiced seven hours each week -- band period and two nights after school -- to produce one of the state finest marching bands. O Hamilton Drum Major: Ronnie Herron BAD Under the direction of Ray L. Seelenbeinder, the band had many activities, including a one- week band camp as a pre-school warm up. Some of the activities our band participated in were the A11-County Music Festival, the District Solo and Ensemble Contest and the State Instru- mental Music Competitions. The Hamilton Township High School band also performed for all of the Lockbourne Air Force Base home foot- ball games. The band delighted the audience of every football game with their clever and unique drill routines, dance steps and formations. Our band was truly a superior and outstanding organization. During concert season, our band gave afternoon concerts in the High School Auditorium. The band also participated in the All-County band festival at the Groveport-Madison High School. Hearing our band play certainly did brighten the school day. We of the Annual Staff and the stu- dent body say, HATS OFF TO THE BAND.
