CLASS PROPHECY Greetings: As l come streaking out in a new jet-propelled Rocket 222, l can tell by the sky-writing that twenty years have passed. Silently I guide my Rocket 222 into the Jet Palace Parking Space. Who should be my welcoming party but Earl Eseman, president of the Rocket-Jet Corporation. His stooge. Harlen Wilburn. is right behind him loaded down with packages. brief cases, and blue prints. With Earl and Harlen as my guides. we enter Rocket City. There on the corner stands Dick Trott playing the organ grinder while Nancy Downing has her har off. begging for pennies. On the next block. we pass the 1Joannet Karner Building. l see Joanne sitting by the window with Ceorge Becker on her lap taking dictation. As we cross the street, l see a large tent all lit np. lnside the performers are getting ready to go on stage. There stands Nina Karshner, Jane Kallies, and Janet Kallies. As usual. they are giggling. Jeanette Johnson is right behind them trying to finish painting the sign that reads. g'See the Great Performance of the Four Bubble-Ciggle Dancers. As we travel on, l see a smaller tent next. There stands a sign reading Evans Flea Circus. l see Dot and Jo have gone into the business together. Frank Cremeans is the stage manager. While waitinglfor the sky light to turn blue. who should drive by but Ronnie Wilson in his 1974 Jet Ship 99, lt seems he has just inherited all of his father's money and business. Sitting next to him is Betty Brown. Ronnie manages her by getting bookings for her in all the current musical productions. While walking on down the street, who should we see but Helen Bond. H s sbantd has lost his money in a card game and Hele A ' and current skypapers so she can get enough m to 1 er twins. Anna Becker is standing next to her shin shoes. GOI! lnue n troll there suddenly bursts a loud noise of - 1 ' L around the corner, we see Nancy Keller, -Ju i Pec ill Knight and Dot Corfee with their rocket shits n bheerin fo e spaceball team. Bernita Nance, Mary Moore,, u' Lawh - :J rlene 0'Harra perform as jetorettes el the ba the spaceball field at ljalftime. C After we e spaceba ame, we bump into a mo the omer. There stands Dick German John s ccguns aimed at one another. It verfthe gun moll, Joyce Stevens, way. hungry, so we stop by the Space to eat. Our waitress is Loretta Macready with Mary McDade following her with the water condenser. The food was great and when we asked who the cooks were, the answer was, C-uiles Richardson and Mel Ray. of course. Peggy Munsch and Eleanor Shephard are running competition against the Space Bar. It seems they have started the idea of hiring male bubble. dancers and all the girls in the Rocket City have been flying in to see them. The main performer is Paul Oliver, and Bill Myers, stands behind the eurtain just in ease a bubble should burst. As we continue our stroll, we come across this huge building. lt seems Bessie Leighly and Carol Johnson are making millions on their new invention. Rosemarie Fraley has come over to write a patent for it. Since she is their. business manager, she gets a ten per cent cut. Joanne Sweitzer, Shirley Schreiber, and Shirley Meadows are in the back of the building. Joanne is mopping floors, Shirley Meadows is washing windows. and Shirley Schreiber is running the elevator. The next building seems to be a dancing school. Through the window l can see Jerry Weber posing as the dance instructor. He is teaching the new ballet steps to Bill Sammet. There seems to be a new building going up next door. l see Elva Crum and Evan Vaughn digging ditches while Robert James supervises. l guess Peggy Dougher is the owner. lt seems she recently inherited some money while staying in Africa and wants to be remembered by her old friends so she is providing funds for a building in Rocket City. I see Jim and Mary Jane Marinello now own a branch of the Salvation Army. They are on the corner singing and shaking bangles. Dolly Chapman is accompanying them with her trumpet. The Candy Factory stands on the next block. It is owned by Shirley Darst. She is going around and sampling all the finished candy while Ray Fields mixes it and Rudy Caldwell wraps it up. All three have lost their high school figures. Oh, what a cute little white rocket house. Daniel Clinger lives here. He is married and has a dozen children. He believes it is cheaper by the dozen. Curtis Williams, the landlord, has been trying to collect the rent for the past ten years but Dan refuses to pay. Why, there is Deloris Prince and Darlene Ray. They are arguing about whether to turn left or right. As usual, they never settle it and carry on straight ahead. They usually aim their rocket guns at one another, but the last time they shot one it made too much noise. Fred Vick, the police chief. arrested them. put them in jail for thirty days and took away the rocket guns, just for disturbing the peace. So now we must leave Rocket City and its fine citizens. As I climb into my Rocket 222, I wave so long. So long. Z' if I ... If I f 4, 'NHP- 5. f,,A : E , A-ff w. ' f I J' .' 1 I fvt 15 fs S Z? x S SSP N.
