Harmlton Southeastem s Royals fin- ished their hardwood campaign with an overall record of 8 12 and 4-1 record in Range Line Conference play. The team was headed by three se- niors, jeff West, jim Higgmbotham and Ron Mclean who were the only return- mg lettermen The rest of the squad was filled out by seven first year members. Also dremng with the varsity team were Sophomores Dean Schmollinger The Royals started off their season slowly losing four of their first five games They then came back with a four game wmnmg streak including the Blue River Toumament where the Roy- als dropped Cowen 73-65 In the after- noon game, the Royals went into the championship game against Muncie Bums and again came out on top with Only three more wins followed dur- ing regular season action the Carmel sectronals finished out the season for the Royals. The team played Sheridan in the bye game but lost 43-36. - Keeping in Bounds First year head coach Mike Shumaker used some unusual warm-ups including forward rolls as George Zeller demonstrates. A Sheridan defender tries everything to stop Se- nior Guard jeff West from getting to the basket. The season did have a few downfalls, as jeff West realizes here. Averaging 12.4 points per game, Senior Forward Ron McLean shows his jumping ability as he goes up for two. leading the team in scoring is Jim Higginbo tham, averaging 13.2 points per game with a high game of 31 points against Tri-Central.

New Coaches, ew Hopes Freshman Guard Brad Stewart starts a drive to the basket during the Freshman Toumey. Freshman Barry johnson looks for an open man to pass off to. Reserve Starter Greg Woods goes up for two in an early season win over Westfield. With new coaches at both the 'Fresh- man and Reserve levels the under- classmen showed much promise for the coming years. - Mr. Chet Miller took over the reserve coaching duties and led the team to a 9-9 record. Larry Raymer was the team's leading rebounder and Dean Schmollinger led the team in scoring. Greg Woods, Keith Webb, Rick Huff and Dean Walker all saw a lot of action. The Freshman team was coached by Mr. Ken Seitz. This was his first basket- ball coaching assignment. The team got off to a good start before a few dis- cipline problems resulted in the ex- pulsion of two key players. Leading the team in scoring was Paul Smoot and Kerry Collins.
