Out in front again! Conference Champ Dave ParlserhastheleadagainstMt.Va-non.0pposing teamssawalotofDave'sbackside. Since Hamilton Southeastem' was opened in the Fall of 1967, cross-coun- try has traditionally been one of the most succesful sports in the school. 'I'his year was no exception. 'l'he Royals- ran to an impressive 11-5 season record and topped off the year by winning the Range-Line Conference championship. Mr. Ken Seitz was the new cross- country coach. Mr. Seitz is a graduate of Brown County High School where he ran cross-country and played basket- ball. He also graduated from Indiana University. When asked how he felt the season went, Mr. Seitz, replied, with- out the dedication the entire team had, I don't think we could have reached the goals we did. t ' Leading the way for the Royals all season was Dave Parker. Dave won the Conference again this year as he did in his sophomore and junior years. Bill Schwarts was the second man for the Royals. Bill was always in the top five runners during the season and also placed high in the county meet. Richie Clark ran in the number three position and placed fifth in the Confer- ence meet. la , Mike Beebe was the number four mnner. Mike is only a sophomore, so he will be back to lead the team next year. Mike Stewart, Mike Cain, Dave Wood and Kevin Clarke all battled for the other varsity spots. - The Royals will have three runners returning from the varsity for next year's team, so the outlook is. bright again for cross country at HSHS.
