Adv t s EES 5 THE BOBCAT'S CLAW is a realization a dream which has been persistent in the minds of many teachers and students of the Hamilton Park High School. We think it fitting that we culminate the first decade of the existence of the school with the publication of an annual which will depict its history, curriculum, and activities. The school is unique in that it is located within a closeknit community and is therefore a nucleus of community interests as is evi- denced through the activities of the Parent Teacher Association, The Dad's Club, and The Band Parents' Organization. The curriculum include learning experience for junior and senior high school students and also provide for classes in adult education. The extracurricu- lar program is varied so as to meet the needs and the interests of all students. It is our hope that within these pages will be found scenes of events and photographs of friends which will, throughout the years, bring back pleasant memories. As student editor, I wish to express my appreciation to the annual staff and to the faculty sponsors who have labored so diligently and also to the many patrons and advertisers who have cooperated in the publishing of this, THE BOB CAT'S CLAW, Eolus Von Retting, Jr. Student Editor 6 1 fi? gl df -ANA o L if Z it ANNUAL STAFF Eolus V. There were eight teachers and principal F. L. Jones, on the faculty namely, the teachers were: Mrs. Lucy Foyg Mrs. Girlie Fieldsg Mrs. L. Huntg Elzie McKnight, John S. Loveg Mrs. M. Harrisong Mrs. O. Davisg and Mrs. Richie. Of the above mentioned teachers Mr. John S. Love remains on the faculty of Hamilton Park High School. In the beginning Hamilton Park School consisted of the elementary and secondary schools. At present there are two distinct schools, both in the same building complex - The Hamilton Park Elementary School. Hamilton Park High School is a fully accredited high school, competing in District 1-AAA. 1964-65, was the first year of competition in AAA. The school's nickname is Bobcat, Other names that are associated with H. P. H. S are: The Informer - school paper, The Bobcat's Claw - school's yearbookg The Bobettes - Drill team. The Mighty fine Bobcats' Football team has participated in 8 State play -offs. The Bobcats won state championship in 1961 by 28-O over Sweney High. Students have represented H. P. H. It is our hope that some of these past events will enlighten and make your day a more pleasant one to remember. The '65 Bobcat's Claw is just one of the many ways we would like to share with you the way of life at Hamilton Park High School and to show our appreciation of such fine friends. 8 Hamilton Park, first cheerleaders and drill team Hamilton Park, first football team Mr. F. Americans have been faced with challenge and change since the first settlers landed on the Eastern Seaboard. They faced that challenge, and made the changes. They established a country unique to the world--one populated by people from many lands whose cultures and philosophies blended 1IlIO a new tradition of freedom of choice, in- dependence, exploration and individual par- ticipation in government. When the westward movement began Americans met that challenge. They pushed back the frontier and settled again in a strange country, absorbing more new people and culture, adapting and changing as they met new challenges. They pushed back the frontier and settled again in a strange country absorbing more new people and cultures, adapting and changing as Wars have threatened to dissolve our great nation, but Americans have met the challenge Americans entered the 20th Century with gusto and faced the challenges of industrializa- tion mechanization scientific development and two global wars. They came face to face with the challenge of space and they are continuing to cope with its changes. It is good to be an American in the world of today. We know that, as our forefathers faced challenge and did not llinch we w1ll prove equal to our American Heritage now and W .H-1....c:9y,+-YLJKS, STANDING 41-ry Dr. Ben McCar1eyg Mr. J. J.' When I think of our American Heritage I think of rugged individualism. The story of ambition, love, de- termination, courage, humility, faith in God and respect for the dignity of man. While matching wits and brawn with the mighty forces of nature man molded the frame- work for a mighty empire. Today we have a great system of schools throughout America which are teaching their students The Story of America. Early in America's history it was realized that if she was to be free then men's minds must be free, and this could only come about through a sound educa- tional system. The student body, the faculty and friends of Hamilton Park High School, steeped in the desire to achieve, to build a better mouse trap, to make a noble contribution to school and community said We will publish a yearbook.
