SENIOR SOJOUR This year's Senior Class burst onto the high school sceneiin the fall of 1960 with hopes of setting the world on fire. They haven't done quite that, but they have made a name for themselves that will be remembered for many a year to come. Taking advantage of the fact that they were the largest class in high school, they elected their freshman candidate -- the Homecoming Queen--a feat never before or since equalled by any class. Their sophomore year marked the construction of the I-I on Downing Mountain which is now traditional of freshman initiation. Also, they began the year under the new administration. The Class of '64 really came into its own in its junior year. The football team, made up mostly of juniors, fought its way to a dark horse conference co-championship with Loyola of Missoula. The basketball team, headed by juniors, ended the season by placing second in the divisional tourney. The junior class showed its academic prowess with two of its members receiving letters of commendation for their high scores on the NMSQT. The junior year was climaxed by a success- ful junior Prom that was accorded to be the best some had ever seen. But the Class of '64 didn't stop there. During the summer, the Boys' State delegates met at Dillon as one of the most acijve delegations which helped elect Pat Collins the Secretary of State. Girls' Staters, too, received a more thorough knowledge of our government from their sessions at MSC. Working as a page in the United States House of Representatives, Michael Dowling spent the summer months in Washington, D. C. learning the procedures of our national government. In '63, the football team was led to its championship in the new Western Montana Class A conference. After this, a Senior Barn Dance was staged that will probably never see an equal. The Class of '64 has been the object of a social experiment this year in releasing the seniors from study halls. Under the leadership of the senior students, the school organizations have progressed with greater efficiency and speed. With the success achieved in the past to guide us in the future, we are assured of outstanding citizenship in tomorrow's ever changing world. 8
