The Victory Corps got under way. The Speech Contest was held and again we turned up with a winner. The Draft Board became a popular subject at this time D T. declines as gum goes to war, and slicing bread be- came a most perpexing war problem. f l Although we were at war, we remembered that morale becomes vital in critical times of war, for as a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so the morale of the country is only as strong as that of each citizen ' SENIOR YEAR Once again we returned to dear old H. Q For the first time ih the history of H H S a girl, June Fowler, was selected as a drum majorette to serve with the others. We held two Mixed Dances this year instead of the usual one. The Hi-De Out furnished us with entertainment after the games. R'ans for the Senior Dance were made. It was held in October. The U S History Club sponsored three speakers this year, Elsa Maxwell, Archdike Otto of Austria, and Dr. Ruth Alexander, Quite a few of our seniors entered the services. and others graduated in the middle of the year. Many of us took the Army and Navy tests The Civil Air Patrol Cadets were organized for pre-iicuction courses in aviation Drives took place for paper, scrap. and bonds Surprise? Everyone took the exams' Oh' Our Senior one-act play was quite a hit Every senior bought a ticket The play was held during school time. It seems that cur life at H H S has ended before we got started, except for those final exams. Our class night turned out to be a fine success and most of us graduated. Our class had a big job in schod, but a greater one lies before us. Let's carry on!
