A- mong the outstanding activities were the purchase of a Defense Bond, the donation of' clothing and S40 to Bundles f'orBr1ta1n, and the sending of Christmas cards to ex-members serving in the armed forces. A salvage committee contributed over S150 to the school's Victory Fund. Several hundredbooks were collected for soldiers and the proceeds from the Fulton Lewis, Jr. lecture were given to the U.S.O. The usual welfare work was continued with donations to the Infantile Paralysis Fund and the Community Chest. Five hundred Christmas Hpretties' were sent to Caney Creek School, for distribution tothe mountain children. Christmas dinners were furnished to four local families. The annual history award to the all-round senior was given in the form of a Defense Bond.
